So
LeBron James
Kobe Bryant
Dirk Nowitzki
Kevin Durant
Chris Paul
Dwayne Wade
Dwight Howard
Chris Bosh
Tim Duncan
Carmelo Anthony
One of these players, right
Yes, pretty much, that's the list.
Brandon Roy and Deron Williams would be two others.
Not sure if I'd be willing to take back a player as old as Dirk, Duncan or Kobe. Then again, getting one of those players would go a long way to winning another title or two. So not ruling it out either.
I don't see any one of those teams not having a pretty big laugh if Ainge called offering Rondo and someone else for one of those players unless that player is KG or Pierce
And that would never happen.
Which brings us back to a point I made earlier -- that Rajon Rondo is a poor trading chip because he has more value as a player than he does on the market as a trade asset.
It's extremely difficult to upgrade Rajon Rondo in a trade and I don't think they'll have the opportunity to do so.
Thus, the Celtics are best off keeping Rondo.
For the sake of discussion, I'm not interested in moving Pierce at all. And I doubt Garnett has significant value at this point, given his injury history.
Anyone else I would take a look at moving in the right deal.
Anyone else.
I also agree with the above -- which rules out Garnett and Pierce too.
Leaving only Ray Allen and Kendrick Perkins as significant trade assets on the Celtics roster. Along with a couple of low priced expiring contracts and future draft picks.
And, if, the Celtics fail to find a trade for Ray Allen ... it's very difficult to see them having another option/chance of landing a marquee player in a trade prior to 2011-12 when Kevin Garnett's contract is set to expire.
Limited options once this (Ray Allen) opportunity passes.
