Per the Globe :

KG is expected to come back on January 22, for the game against the Blazers. Doc was positive about his knee and his health, but he stayed very cautious not to claim this game is his definite return date :

Quote
After two weeks of vagueness, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said last night that Garnett is targeted to play Jan. 22 against Portland. “There is an outside chance that that would be the return date,’’ Rivers said. “I am just glad that he’s running. “He has no pain. It’s good. We’ll have a couple of practices next week where he can get on the floor and practice with us, so that would be good, too. We’re going to play him when he’s ready.’’

Rasheed is expected to play Monday against the Mavs, and he said his injury was basically "routine" (nothing major) :

Quote
Rivers said he is targeting Monday as a return date for Wallace, who has missed three games.

“It was about five or six minutes left in the fourth quarter [of the Toronto game],’’ Wallace said. “It got real sore to where I still had to play on it, but after the game ice it down.

“I am going to take a couple of days off, let the swelling go down. It comes with age. It’s a normal basketball injury, nothing out of the ordinary, joints flaring up, that’s all. Ain’t nothing real serious.’’

Finally, no change for Marquis, who is still expected to come back after the All-Star Break, but he could get his cast removed soon.

Quote
A forgotten man on the roster is Marquis Daniels, who has missed the past 18 games after surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb. Daniels said his soft cast will be removed in 1-2 weeks and he can increase his basketball activity. Daniels is now expected to return after the All-Star break . . .

Marquis said "You never know, maybe it could get better [sooner]," but I hope he doesn't rush his recovery back if he is not 100% healthy. After all the games he has missed, he can miss a few more to make sure he comes back 100% healthy.

Hopefully after these returns the team will start clicking together, allowing the starters to get more rest. And hopefully we won't be hit by injuries once everybody is back. Let's stay positive! :)

Never, EVER trust Doc Rivers' predictions. He can say 10-14 days and then, two weeks later, he says "maybe there's an outside chance" he can return in a week or so.

If you ask Doc if he prefers player A or player B he'll say "I like player A a lot, he's been great! And player B is doing all the right things on the floor, I like him a lot"...

Are we like trying to turn Kevin Garnett into a cyborg for the military or something? We've been told so many things about his health (And not told things) I don't believe anythig until he's on the court. Or a cyborg. It's one or the other.

I really wish Doc would stop saying this stuff.  Every time he makes one of these statements, it is twisted by the press into something much more firm than it is.  As I was driving in this morning, on the radio they said "KG is expected to return a week from tonight against Portland".  However, that is not what Doc said.  Doc said there is an outside chance he could be back by then.

I wish he would just stick with Ainge's style.  Say things like "he is not playing tonight, and we are not sure when he will be back yet, but he is improving".  The second you mention any time frame, that is all people hear, and they ignore the context where you say that it isn't that likely.

Totally agree. I think Celtics Nation heard enough of this bull**** last year.

Yeah, but if Doc doesn't say anything, the board complains about that too. Can't win for losing.

Well, I think he can say things without giving a date.  This was a very weird statement.  He gave a date, and then said it is not that likely that he will actually be ready by then.

Sheed said today that he will play Monday, although he will have limited minutes.

However, what is interesting is that it was revealed today that the injury has been bothering him for a few weeks, well before the Toronto game. So much for people saying Sheed is not motivated or cruises through the season... sadly, it also reveals that the staff is keeping a lot of medical news secret.

Quote
Wallace was a late scratch in Monday's loss to Atlanta and has missed the past three games with a sore left forefoot. But he indicated Saturday that the injury actually occurred long before a win over Toronto last Sunday.

"It happened a while ago, I've been playing on it for two weeks," said Wallace. "The last few minutes in the Toronto game last week -- that sorta did it. [Since then I've had to] sit on it, give it a rest for a week."

Celtics coach Doc Rivers said that trainer Ed Lacerte indicated that the swelling had gone down in Wallace's foot, which, barring a setback, should allow him to go Monday.

"[Wallace] told me he feels good and says he wants to go through practice [Sunday] and then see how he feels," said Rivers. "Right now, I think he's going to play on Monday."

Rivers said he'll conference with Lacerte again to determine how many minutes Wallace is able to play, but does expect to limit his court time in his first game back.
