Why complain about Baby when he's been pretty decent since he came back from injury, which is good considering he hasn't had much time to get into any rhythm.  I don't get the complaints.  Should be complaining about Shelden Williams.  Can't catch a pass to save his life!

Exactly.  I love how we're complaining about a bench player right now.  When we had one starter play well last night and we continue to have turnover problems.

I think he's been decent since his return.  He might always carry some extra weight, but he looks in fine condition to me.  He has been very active, and doesn't seem to take plays off to rest.  He seems quick to me, but he's never going to be able to jump.  One thing I find strange is that he falls to the ground on every other play.  It doesn't matter if he's on offense or defense, he always seems to find a reason to flop to the floor.

Yes, I think Baby has played great in the time he has had this year. I feel the name calling is inappropriate for this blog, re Bballtim. We are lucky to have him on our team.

On another topic, I, too, worry a little bit about the falling in the game last night. That has got to hurt and it did seem to happen more than usual. I sure hope it was just tiredness and that he is okay. Don't we have a couple of doctors here?
What do you think?

It hasn't been just this game thought.  He's been spending a lot of time on the floor the whole time he's been with the team this year.  I understand the motivation if he's trying to draw a foul, but sometimes he seems to just fall to the floor for no reason.  At least he always pops right back up and doesn't roll around like Vince and Tracy are famous for.

I've been one of the most vocal Anti-BBD people in the past, but I think he's done some decent things upon his return.  However, I think my overall "beef" is with many posters here.  I get sick of hearing how incredible a player BBD is and how he is the future of the Celtics starting rotation (or how he was going to turn this team around upon his return).  Once you view him as a backup player who comes in for 8 to 10 reliable minutes on a championship team, then you appreciate what he does.

He's improved his rebounding, but that's it.  And I'm happy about that.  But he is most definitely looking out of shape, which there's no excuse for if you hurt your hand.  His defensive rotations have always been subar and slow, which I've tried to point out and no-one listened, but it really does hurt the team.  Overall he makes easy things look difficult (much like when Scally would dive for a ball that any normal player would run over and pick up with ease), and unless he gets some "ups" in his legs he won't be finishing around the hoop anytime soon.  I do think he's improved his body control though, so that's good.

Overall I'm glad he's on this team b/c I think the Celtics need that depth and he hustles on the court, but in the playoffs I don't want to see him more than 8 minutes a game.

Yeah, I don't get the name calling either.  We're supposed to be fans of this team.  Not to mention it's childish.

His awful rebounding was the main reason BBD was a below average big man. That's a pretty big deal.

Not to be debbie downer, but he did not start on a championship team.  They were a championship team until he started, then they lost to Orlando.  Albeit there were a few other factors, but nonetheless.

And yes, they wanted to keep him, but not as a starter.

Except that he's been rebounding a lot better.

HE never started for a championship team, really never played for a championship he was a bit bench player that year.

This guy has no commitment to his profession and thats what makes me the angriest! First dumb enough to get in a fight but to top matters off hes doesnt come back in shape! For those who say hes in shape your just completely wrong, he may be in the best shape of his life but that is not basketball shape!

Glen Davis is doing a good job. No problems with his contributions.

I agree however I wonder where his jumper went. He has hit nothing but front rim since he came back. I hope it is still his thumb not being healed completely. His free throws seem to have improved though which seems odd. His rebounding has been slightly better. He still can't finish around the rim. Considering that he can't jump that will only get worse anyway. All in all he has played slightly better than I thought he would. I still think had Doc kept giving Shelden bigger minutes that he would be producing more than BBD is. He seems to be thinking too much out there now and trying to do more than he should to try and stay on the floor. That is hurting him and he isn't quite as effective as he was.

I see some here questioning the fitness of Big Baby and wonder what you are basing this on.

I saw him in the New jersey game on television and was surprised last night when I saw him walking in and out of the gangway where the players come out

He appears much thinner in person and for all the griping you would think he's in the same shape he was walking into camp his rookie year

It didn't look like his cardio-vascular conditioning was at it's best but he definitely appears quicker, thinner and stronger than last year

Give him about 20 total games to get his legs under him and I think he will be one of the best performers coming off the bench for this team come early March
