This dude makes an interesting proposal about perhaps trading for Kirk Hinrich. Hinrich, as a player, would be an absolutely fantastic fit as a backup guard, similar to the way he is in Chicago: he can give our young stud PG some actual rest, he can play with or without Rondo very effectively, he can actually play can make plays and shoot the three ball, and he is a great defender.
The writer says that a trade of Scal, Tony and Eddie House would work to get Hinrich using the ESPN trade machine.

Only problems are: he still has a three years left on a fairly big 9 mil/ per year contract, Chicago isn't out of the playoff hunt yet (although as the guy says in the article, there have been talks that the Bulls want to get rid of Kirk before the trade deadline) we'd have to give up Eddie to get him (he's been struggling, but House is a one-of-a-kind weapon when he's on) and would there be
any lasting animosity from last year's playoffs incident?
It probably will not happen, but I don't think its completely out of the question and Hinrich really would be a great fit.

I've thought this ought loud myself, but ultimately, I think of two reasons against the move:

1. Big contract to pay to a bench player.

2. If we're talking about strengthening the team's championship hopes, a trade of our expiring assets (Allen, Scal, Giddens) should return backups at multiple positions, given the injury problems that are currently afflicting our rotation.

Another big man would be good; I'd love to get Kurt Thomas from the Bucks. So would a true backup PG; Chucky Atkins (yes, don't laugh) has played great ball in Detroit this season, and is already in game shape (I'd wager he'd be a better contributor than Lue, the presumptive late-season addition to the active roster). A defensive wingman expressly acquired to match up against Lebron/Kobe would also be great.

Hinrich would fit in well and, in the next few years, he would allow us to bring Ray off the bench.

Send Scal, Tony and Baby and Chicago might be interested.

Kirk and Eddie would be a dynomite second unit backcourt.

LOVE it! perfect fit and tough as nails.

hinrich is as good a defender as TA (remember his D on pierce in the playoffs?)

he is as good a threat from the three as house/scal.

 only thing we would miss is scal's ability to guard mobile bigs.

I like Kirk, love his toughness and defense but he's not all that great, definitely not worth his salary.  He shoots just about the same percentage from 3 as he does inside the arc (high 30's).

Like Doug Collins stated that Chicago never really had a star that could help them get past the hump since Jordan. I think Ray Allen who is a little older could be that star they could use for the next couple of years. The celtics would be dumb to extend his contract past this season. Its not that he is a bad player by any means and is still in great shape but playing in a celtics system where everyone needs to share the ball and the best shot counts he is playing a little too unselfish. In addition we do have some older guys in the team it be ok by me if he were traded (ok if he weren't too )

So with that rambling what i would do is

Trade to Chicago :
Ray Allen and Jr Giddens

Trade to Boston
Hinrich and Taj Gibson

Chicago no doubt would do this just to get rid of hinrichs contract and help Rose be more comfortable starting plus would be able to include gibson since they have already noah and thomas. Allen would really help their team incredibly via leadership and star potential

Boston would be getting two fresher legs and hinrich is not a bad shooter himself.

Starting for celtics after trade

C- Perk
PF- Kg
SF- PP
g- Hinrich
g- Rondo

Its a nice added luxury that hinrich can also handle the ball well since he is more of a pg then a sg.

Off the bench

Wallace
house
Gibson
Allen
Big Baby

Call me impressed by gibson. The kid really plays hard out there and can shoot a the mid range well. He also knows whats going out there and in future could pair well with perk.

The only other team i can think of that would want allen would be OKC but the celts would prob at least want back james harden and i'am not sure if okc would give him up.

I'd love to see Hinrich join the Blazers. He'd be an excellent fit alongside Brandon Roy and a major boost to their rapidly improving defense.

Why would the Celtics make a major trade that would disrupt chemistry?  With this roster, we have a chance to win it all.  There is no reason to change it and that's exactly why Ray Allen won't get traded.

Why trade Ray at all though? Odds are you can get Hinrich just for Scal/House/etc.

No way do the Bulls want Hinrich on their payroll next year screwing up their chance to land Bosh + another big FA.

Also Hinrich is not nearly the offensive player Ray Allen is.

With Kirk comes his large contract which makes him unapplealing to me. But if we could get Al Jefferson, I don't mind big contracts. If we could get Al for Sheed, Davis and maybe TA, I would pull the trigger. If this trade goes through I would go for Shaun livingston from OKC and Diop from NJ with the contracts of Williams,Scalbrine, Giddens,and Walker. We'll have Diop, Al, Daniels,(TA), House and Livingston coming off the bench.
