OKLAHOMA CITY - The Knicks were afraid, very afraid. And it had nothing to do with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

For two days, several players had trouble sleeping because they were convinced that their downtown hotel is haunted.

"I definitely believe it," Jared Jeffries said. "The place is haunted. It's scary."

Eddy Curry claims he slept for only two hours Sunday night because he couldn't stop thinking about ghosts roaming the hotel.

For years, guests staying at the Skirvin Hilton have reported ghost sightings and strange noises. Legend has it that sometime in the 1930s, a woman jumped to her death while holding her baby in her hands.

"They said it happened on the 10th floor and I'm the only one staying on the 10th floor," Curry said. "That's why I spent most of my time in (Nate Robinson's) room. I definitely believe there are ghosts in that hotel."

It's the ghost of John Starks' record, (of 217 3-point FG's in one season), that was broken twice ... ultimately by Ray Allen, with 269. ;)

The best part of that story is that Curry is the only player sleeping on the 10th floor.  You think the Knicks are trying to tell him something?

Eddy Curry is so overweight, when the Knicks go on the road, he takes up an entire hotel room floor!

Does Bill Simmons know about this? I expect something in the next mailbag. That, and something about Arenas and sneakers.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
I stay at the Skirvin Hilton whenever I'm on OKC for work, and the coolest thing about it (besides the fact that it's a nice hotel) is that all the NBA teams stay there too.  Never had any problems with ghosts, but did have a hell of a time trying to convince a co-worker that Earl Boykins was an actual NBA player and not just some random guy in a Wizards shirt.

But the hotel is pretty old, with a weird layout.  I hadn't heard anything about a haunting until now. If I had to guess, I'd assume Curry is just angry that they don't have a continental breakfast in the lobby.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I've stayed there a couple of times...no issues with ghosts.  I do tend to wake up hungover, but I don't think that is the ghost's fault.

Thunder need to be investegated for Unsportsmanlike conduct!

EDIT: thanks to whoever merged this, can't believe i missed the earlier thread (TP to matt). This whole story is awesome.

The only way it could be better is if the knicks starting 5 had played a pickup game vs the ghosts and lost by 15.

Sounds like an episode of Scooby Doo.
