Def poor coaching.

Also horrible color commentary. I had to mute the TV for a while when Tommy was complaining about a call that was clearly correct in the replay. He can truly be horrible.

I agree TT's coaching was baffling and that Tommy did not have his best night. They need to figure out how to get him back to earth when he's freaking out. Sometimes he had a right to complain, and others he's erroniously searching for fouls that weren't there and excuses.

I can't recall being disappointed in Tommy in a long time. But everyone's entitled to a bad game.

Leaving the officiating out, Coach Thibodeau definitely deserves to shoulder a major portion of blame for this loss. In post game interviews when asked the similar question whether a lack of substitutions led to a fatigued team at the end, both Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers needed to pause, look down away from the press and think of what to say before saying it.

Pierce said, "Yeah.......maybe."

Doc said something about if he didn't get tossed he wouldn't have left the team in that situation where the coaches would just go with the players on the floor. Or something like that.

They both tried like heck not to criticize Tom Thibodeau.

But, come on you can't on one night play Rondo 44 minutes, Ray 42, Perk and Pierce 34 and a trying-to-get-his-wind-back Baby 18 minutes and then the very next night play Rondo 45, Ray 43, Perkins and Pierce 42 and Baby 28 minutes and every one of the last 19 minutes and 13 seconds of the second half and expect them to be fresh enough at the end to hold a lead. The idea is ludicrous.

The refs definitely interjected themselves in this game, which refs should never do, and effected the game. The turnovers definitely are becoming a huge problem for this team. But as much as those factors were definitely factors in the outcome of last nights game, so was the truly horrible coaching job that Coach Tom Thibodeau did last night.

Yeah, Thibs did a pretty bad coaching job.  I was screaming for him to put Scal back in. ;D  The one day he finally plays well, he gets benched in the 2nd half.

You can't blame Tom for the loss last night. I don't think either team substituted much in the second half. Personally I think it was good to stick with the starters, save Scal who didn't play for whatever reason. With Joe Johnson feeling it, the Celtics needed to have someone who could score. The bench was not the answer.

The officiating was downright atrocious. The phantom flagrant call on Baby and the double technical on Doc was the turning point of the game. Blame the refs for the loss; those calls changed the game. That swing completely favored the Hawks.

Well even Pierce said they were tired because there were no substitutions.  You can't expect them to perform in the 4th quarter after playing what 18 consecutive minutes without any substitutions.  Tony should have played more.  Sure he can't shoot, but when he plays well, good things happen.

Yeah, except the difference is that their starters are 25 years old, and ours, 30+. You absolutely can and should blame Thibodeau for his inadequate coaching. There was no way this was going to work.

I agree.  Did he even play at all in the 2nd half.  It's a little bit baffling that for a couple weeks, Tony established himself as true asset on defense, and he also gets a lot of easy buckets on fast breaks.  So in order to reward Tony, he gets banished to the bench again.  I'm not sure what they are doing with him.  I'd like to see Tony play more and have Ray's workload reduced for the time being.

Allen played all of what? 6 minutes....Eddie House played what 5 minutes? Would it have really hurt from TT to play these guys for 3 minutes in the 4th? 2 minutes even! Williams off the bench was hustling and playing aggressive...Its not like these guy were playing bad games. I just dont understand the logic. Not only were we tired from playing we were tired from defending Johnson and Crawford. Give these guys a 2 minute break from playing these younger more athletic guys and use the rotation. There is a reason you have a rotation and I dont know why TT neglected using it...

Heck, I woulda tried Scal on Johnson last night even it was to give someone a 2 minute breather. His defense was superb. I know Johnson is much better than Smith with his offense but that two minutes of rest could have been what we needed to pull out the win and complete the game.

Refs bad yes. But you cant change the calls a ref makes. Its pointless to argue and blame them no matter how bad they are. Despite how bad the refs were or werent we could have won this game sticking to our usual rotation and I dont know why TT went against what works...

Plus you can blame the refs all you want, but they didnt cause our 20 turnovers.
