Reading between the lines here, but in general I think in your opinions (Roy, PosImpos) a ref-caused swing of momentum should be accounted to the team instead of to the refs?

I can understand that point of view, and though my heart disagrees, my mind tells me "we", being professional athletes, should be above all of that.

Hope you feel where I'm coming from with this because I'm having some issues describing what I mean ;)

I don't understand why Doc got ejected in the first place.  Did he get a technical before?  That's the only way I can see him getting ejected because even though he reacted strongly, I didn't think it was anything more than a coach reacting to what he feels was a bad call.  Regardless, give a tech but don't eject the guy... unless I missed something.

I tend to blame the refs when:

1) there is a huge disparity in ft attempts
2) there are a number of missed calls in favor of one team
 a) there were some turnovers on atlanta that were "overlooked"

BUT the kicker is
3) when the refs feel the need to cover up their mistakes with bravado, handing out techs, and making themselves a part of the game

I have to say, I really can't trust that NBA officiating is fair and balanced when I watch Kobe or LeBron get kid gloves. Or when I watch games officiated differently depending on how much time is left on the clock.

I believe he was assessed a double technical. Maybe he said something particularly foul.

When even Shelden Williams is indirectly blaming the refs on Twitter after a loss, you know it means something.

"man soo many things i could say about the game but by rule i can't!!! if yall watched the game yall know what i am talking about!!"

The refs were definitely part of the problem.

I think we came into the second half a lot differently though, not as aggressive.

Anyone want to start a "Two Words: The Injuries" thread for me? I'm not quite in the mood.

Reffing was too one sided and very visably affected the game.

Blaming the ref is an easy cop out.

We didn't play our game in the 4th quarter.

We didn't make any adjustments in the 4th quarter.

We didn't make any substitutions in the 4th quarter.

What I think happened was we focused too much on defense and not about the whole darn game in all of its aspects.

Fatigue, matchups, player combinations, all went out the window in that 4th quarter.

All of that happened in the 4th because our team seemed to give up after Doc got ejected - which was the culmination of the bad reffing up to that point.

You're free to blame the team for giving up after that, but I can't say that I really blame them.

i cannot recall being so mad after a regular season game. so my question, was tonight the most one sided officiated game of all time, or was it just top 5? i can honestly say i have never seen anything like that third quarter officiating.

games like this are the reason tim donaghy was able to pick winners 85% of the time. the nba: where rigged games happen.

Yep, worst officiated Celtics game I've seen since the game vs the Lakers last year at home.  That one still tops tonight too in my opinion.

Rajon disappeared in the second half. That, even more than Perk turning the ball over on every possession, was what killed the C's.

A couple of those criticisms are on the coaching and not the team. The adjustments and substitutions and player fatigue that led to poor play at the end has to fall squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff.

Doc for getting tossed and not being there to make the proper decisions and Thibs for being as unprepared as a person possibly could have been to head coach an NBA game.

I am bewildered when people use #1 as evidence of poor reffing. Based on recent studies, I consider equal foul calls as more suspect since refs are so prone to unconscious makeup calls.

There is no reason to expect anything near equal foul shot attempts. What makes point 1 particularly odd is that the disparity in fouls committed in last night's game was only 5 (21-16)! Really?
