I was looking through the NBA rosters of teams not likely to make the playoffs and teams in luxury tax land to see who could realistically be bought out. Here is the list I came up with..

Tony Battie
Bobby Simmons
Mike James
Jason Kapono
Eddy Curry
Larry Hughes
Darko
Jared Jefferies
Brian Cardinal
Kenny Thomas
Kyle Korver
Raja Bell
Etan Thomas
Mo Peterson

Off this list my first choice would be Raja Bell, he would be a perfect fit. After that I would be interested in Mike James, Larry Hughs and Kapono.

Who else on this list do you think could help the C's?

I'd love to see Indiana buy out Earl Watson, since their playoffs hopes are doomed, but I don't see that happening.

If things go south in Milwaukee, maybe they'd look to move Ridnour.  Unlikely, but possible.

Maybe the Knicks and Chris Duhon?  Again, it's not likely, but you never know.

2. Raja Bell

3. Bobby Simmons

4. Larry Hughes

I've thought about Duhon before as well, (a few times, because he's a great fit and I love his game), but I doubt that would happen ... then again, if anyone had told me KG would ever be a Celtic, I would have called them nuts. In other words, anything's possible in this crazy NBA world we live in. ;)

Raja Bell would be fantastic, if his wrist heals in time for the playoffs. House, Bell, Daniels and Sheed would make for a very potent veteran bench.

Hughes' ballhandling and shot-creating ability might tempt Danny, but I'd rather not relive the Cassell/Starbury experience.

Tracy McGrady is a good possibility of being bought out if Houston can't use him in a trade. He would be an interesting experiment as he could play backup pg for us as well as either of the wing positions.

I would think that McGrady ends up with Cleveland if he gets bought out . He could start there and if he ever regained most his ability before the injuries, that would be a very scary team.

I have read a lot of criticisms of signing him.  I would hate to trade for him, but that's not what this thread is about.  I would love experimenting with him, he didn't look completely useless through his limited time on the floor and my even more limited viewing time of him.  At least he could hit shots..not like Starbury (or, for that matter, Mikki).  If this is possible, this would be number one.  He may have been humbled by having a bad injury history, and may be a much more willing distributor than his all-star days early in the 2000's.

Along those same lines, I would definitely not be opposed to Korver or Bell, either..

Skillwise, you couldn't ask for a better fit for our bench.  Not sure he'd be willing to come off the bench though.  He's only 30, and not far removed from All-Star accolades.

Don't really fear him in a larger role on another team though.  While he's still a very skilled guy, his efficiency has tanked as his legs and back have gone.  Give him a starting role and you might confuse him for Larry Hughes.

I'd love to get Darko and let him work with Clifford Ray for a couple of years.

After reading a few articles, looks like Darko is going to Europe after this season. I guess there would be no reason to waste Clifford's time. :)

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Can we add Scalabrine to this list? I think Etan Thomas would be a nice addition if he was healthy. He is a very good defensive rebounder which we could use to spell Perk.

Ironically Mikki Moore just became available again. However, I have the feeling he has played his last nba game.

McGrady on a buyout would be a dream pickup. I do think that if he's bought out, he'd go to the Lakers or Cavs.
