Rasheed Wallace while can give you clutch three's at any point of the game and ocassionally a nice turn around jumper from the paint area is absolutely done in the defensive end. The guy moves slower than a dinasour now

Unlike hard nosed players like posey, powe and even tony allen who give maximum effort on the court wallace likes to take it easy especially on the defensive end. He sort of looks like he is hurt actually when he moves

I doubt that he ever has dived for loose balls

He was not a good pickup imo. Whats the good if you can get some points in the game when your defense gives up double amount of points?

Danny has picked up another taller eddie house(specialist) for a premium price and maybe he will pay dividends in the playoffs nailing that clutch three we need to bury a team ala robert horry but right now as a top 6th man/temporary starter he is not effective.

Danny has to stop trying sign guys like wallace, lindsay hunter and other older vets. We really need to get younger , so that we can hang with teams like the hawks and lakers. Don;'t care how smart or experienced a vet could be, a good young player has lots of energy, enthuthiasm , stamina to battle

I'd like to see danny make some honest moves to help shore up the bench. Waive sheldon williams who has been moved around the league for a good reason, cut eddie house who plain out stinks

I'd like to see the celts try and grab Ryan Anderson (who is currently benched ) and say Reddick . Maybe magic might bite for a return of a future 1st round pick plus giddens, walker, scal combination

Then our bench would include wallace, tony allen, anderson, reddick, BBD and fa pg pickup. That be a heck alot better than the bench we got now. Anderson is a real good player and its crazy of orlando to bench him

Rasheed, a clutch three point shooter? (Sounds like a little bit of a stretch). Nevertheless, I disagree with your assessment that he is a bad defender; he is a crafty defender, much like what Robert Horry was back when he was fading. Rasheed isn't the fastest or strongest guy out there, but he makes up for that by using his head. He's great at getting deflections. He's got a solid nose for the ball. And he's a good rebounder.

While is fairly slow these days, he is still extremely mobile for his size, and he's not above getting a body on some of the bigger guys in the league.

Also, don't forget that Rasheed is starting now, so this is not what "his role" was supposed to be. If KG gets back and when Rasheed gets a little more comfortable, I'll be happy with what he will be giving the team.

My biggest gripe with Rasheed is that he takes too many 3's. He's a much more effective offensive player down on the box. But that's just who he is at this point in his career.

Really good assessment

Rasheed played with a lack of effort last night and attempted too many threes.

Overall, he has been a key contributor to this team since we've signed him, and he will be a key in the playoffs too.

I love how Rasheed Wallace matches up with the other contenders -- Orlando + Cleveland + LA + San Antonio.

Rasheed is a great pickup if he would just stick to what he's good at (defense, rebounding, low post offense), and would away from what he's bad at (taking 8 3's a game and only making 1).

If Tony Allen was shooting and missing as many 3's as sheed does, he would never see playing time...but we let Sheed stagnate the offense by having it in his mind that he's going to shoot the ball as soon as he touches it! We could have brought Antoine back for much less money if we wanted a PF shooting 3's.

Without the 8 3's a game, Sheed's giving us great productivity off the bench. someone (Doc) simply needs to get the balls to tell him to stop shooting 3 after 3, with the consequence that he'll be riding the pine if he doesn't stop.

i hated the rasheed signing from day one (one of the few). he was brutal tonight. i hate his game, i hate his attitude (do not mind arguing with refs when warranted, but you cannot do it all the time). i do not mind threes at times, but he has no feel for what is a good shot or just a prayer).

all that being said, we did not sign him to play 40 minutes, which is what he is forced to do now. he is much better playing 20 minutes a night, backing up KG and perk.

but to flip flop one more time, i hate watching him play, do not want to even thing what he will be like next year or the year after. he is brutal to watch.

There were 2 threes last night that he took that weren't the best shots. The rest of them were either wide open looks, or shots that the other guys forced on him giving him the ball when the shot clock was at 2-3 seconds. One of the two bad shots was at an inopportune time, however he was definitely not the problem last night. At least not alone. Sheed signing is the only reason we legitimately will be one of the favorites to win it all if we can somehow get everyone healthy.

I'm happy with Rasheed here.  Like most others, I don't like the over-emphasis on threes, but everything else he brings has been a plus for the bench, including his defense.

The bright side of all this is(playing big minutes),it whipped Sheed into a reasonable playing shape.

While Sheed is not remotely what I would call a "clutch" three-point shooter, (more like a "crutch" three-point shooter), and while I would like to see a bit more hustle for loose balls and posting up more consistently at both ends, I like what he brings off the bench and how he uses his size effectively down low.

I think he's been more of the post-up mind lately, and whether it's a coaching suggestion or his own motivation, he has been mixing it up more between the box and his outside shots. One lends itself to the other, and I think he's beginning to realize that he's much more difficult to defend when switching between the two, and even looking for the mid-shot once-in-a-while.

We knew what we were getting personality-wise when we signed Sheed, but for me, I've been pleasantly surprised as far as what he contributes on the floor, and the strength he brings in off the bench.

Seems like most of us agree he throws up too many 3's.  I still like the pickup.  Bottom line is we are better with him on our team.
I would like to see us add another decent player for the bench.  Preferably a PG.

I agree here...The best part is that this reaction came after a couple games where Rasheed hasnt even come off the bench, he has had to start. How can the bench need an upgrade when we have all these injuries?

Rasheed was and is a very bad pick up for this team.
Why Doc hasn't put the cap on Rasheed taking all those 3 point shots baffles me !
It easy to see he is much more effective closer to the basket but he wants to shoot 25ft shots, reminding me of ( Antoine Walker )
Even if he were to hit a couple of those shots its still inappropriate in too many cases
He's making the team look really bad with those long shots,
I get the feeling he's doing what he wants to do !! In spite of the team concept.
