What I like Most About Rondo That No One Talks About

For me, it is the complete confidence I have that he won't turn the ball over when he is dribbling. He has the best control of the ball of any player I have ever seen with the dribble, whether bringing it up under pressure, or slicing through 2-3 defenders, or along the baseline among trees.  His huge hands and quick feet are just deadly to the other teams. Truly an artist.

So much to like actually. But yeah, I do like the ball handling quality you mention alot. Other things a like:

1. He's a play maker in the DJ sense. He makes plays that help you win games. The critical ones that don't stand out but are crucial. A little steal, an unexpected rebound, a pass you didn't think would happen. A layup drive at an enuxepected time.

2. Tough, tough, tough. Great quality for your point as he sets the tone for the team.


3. Defense, one of the best at his position in the league

if he can ever get his shot down....best point in the league.

Sometimes I say would CP be better, or Deron? I always comes back to the D. When it's on the line, D wins and Rondo can D it up so much better than those two. And he finds his own way to score too...

I'd say toughness / fearlessness.  I like the fact that Rondo gets right up after he's knocked down, and isn't intimidated by other star players.

I think CP and Deron are unquestionably better than Rondo.  But this year I really believe Rondo has been the best player on the team so far.  I don't think this team is the Big 3 anymore.  The kid should definitely make the allstar team (statistically he's the 3rd best guard in the East behind Wade and Iggy... and easily the #1 point guard in the Conference)... More often than not, when one of the celebrities goes down with an injury, Rondo steps up.  I think it's clear at this point that he sacrifices stats as much as any of the star vets.  He's my favorite player to watch on the Celtics right now.

More often than not, when one of the celebrities goes down with an injury, Rondo steps up.  I think it's clear at this point that he sacrifices stats as much as any of the star vets.  He's my favorite player to watch on the Celtics right now. 

Yet so many people will still tell you that his stats are only the result of having three future HOFs around him. You know, all that crap: "his assists are only the big three's buckets and his points are made possible by defenses having to focus on anyone but him, etc..."
Just don't know what games they've been watching... (probably none)

I'm a miniature Rondo in that Hate being on the ground for longer than a second. I won't wait till I get picked up either.

Though, I have to admit, lately he's taken to lying around a bit, looking around, before getting up. Looks like he does it on purpose, to get the team to get back on D or something, to just buy a lil' time. He's had major minutes though. Dunno.

What I like about Rondo:
1) Yes, his dribbling is insane
The way he dribbles through traffic is just insane.
2) His quickness
Defenders *never* know what he'll do next. 180 Degree turns instantly, explosiveness in going up, etc.
3) His new-found consistency.
And this one comes with the consistency of his shot.
X) Yes, there's an X.
If there is *anything* like an X-factor for athletes like there is in performing artists, Rondo has it.

His intangible that actually translate into something meaningful (ie: the ability to make good decisions in mid air while saving a ball from going out of bounds; or throwing the ball off of a defenders back to shave a couple of seconds off the clock in a final seconds inbounds play.

Rajon..I love his name. It just sounds so nice.
He can dribble amazing, yes, and his shots are always surprises, unexpected and smooth as he runs through a crowd of bigs like it's nothing. When he runs, he looks like he's walking.
His confidence at such a young age is impressive and seeing him a bit nervous and missing the two game losing free throws a week or so ago was interesting. I really felt for him.
He's an enigma, a whole person, still growing, not just a one-dimentional, one-talent player or person.

I love his dribbles, I feel like he can never lose control of the ball... although he has some turnovers here and then, I'm amazed by his control.

I love his decision-making, he already seems to know when to set up his teammates for a bucket or when to score by himself, or when to go for a steal, etc.

And I'm really enjoying his demeanor. He acts like a cold-blooded guy who never shows feelings and seems bored (even after he made his buzzer beater and took over the game in OT last night). It's really fun to watch.

Do you really think all because Chris Paul is on the television doing some advertisements for milk that Rondo, or, for that matter, any other opposing point guard is going to walk into the arena with their tail in between their legs? I disagree.  There are a lot of talented young players that lack confidence.  Rondo has never had that problem.  Even in his first two seasons, he was willing to go toe-to-toe with guys like Dwight Howard.  I don't think it's as common of a trait as you make it out to be.
