I watched the whole game and don't remember a controversy being mentioned.  Looking at the replay of last night's game against the Heat, it was said that "the game ended in controversy".  I looked at the NBA.com replay and it says the controversy was with the .6 that was left on the clock.  What was the controversy about the .6 seconds?

I didn't see any controversy.  I was watching the Heat television feed and their announcers didn't indicate anything was amiss.  It was fairly obvious there was time remaining after Wade hit his shot.

The clock briefly stopped when Haslem grabbed the rebound the possession before Wade's steal. The time keeper seemed to anticipate a time out but instead the Heat advanced the ball to Wade who then was fouled and sent to the line by Ray Allen.

The potential time saved there could have made Wade's steal and score on Ray Allen a game winner.

Someone on NBA.com's a Heat fan.  :D

Send him a tissue or something. He sounds no better than a Ravens fan after watching his team get beat by the Pats.

I didn't hear them talk about it at all, but when it happened, I put Wade's dunk in slow motion, and it was clear that there should have been another 0.5 seconds or so added to the clock for the C's possession.  But any controversy was averted by Rondo's Alley-oop, so I am not sure what it's about.

Exactly, the time keeping wasn't precise at all during the last few possessions but it evened out well enough.

This is the right answer.  I didn't time how long the clock was stopped myself but I heard an estimate of about 1.5 seconds.  Of course, if this is accurate, it also suggests that Wade would not have had the time to dunk the ball on that last play at all.  Oh well, in the end, the good guys won so who cares.

I think the NBA.com guy just misspoke. He said "controversy" when he meant "exciting" or "dramatic". just a bad choice of word used. There was no controversy.

The only controversy will be if Rondo is not selected to the All Star team!! He is truly an NBA All Star.

And did anyone notice that he made most of his free throws last night??

This, except

- I think the clock pausing was because of the shot clock going off after Pierce airballed that godawful finger-roll.  I believe the game clock automatically freezes when that happens, and I definitely remember the buzzer sounding just about at that point.

- The clock paused for enough time (>.6 sec) that Wade's dunk wouldn't've counted at all.  He would've had to shoot a runner of some kind to get it off in time.  So the net effect was pretty much null, as both Wade and Rondo's baskets were in the "extra" time.
