I don't care what anyone says, Ray Allen is clutch. Period. All of this talk about his expiring contract, trade him...whatever. Ray may have his off nights, but he is STILL smooth as butter and is always there when we need him. The way he takes care of his body, he can definitely play 3 more years easily. Fact is, he wants to resign with the Celts for less money. I say do it and not even think twice. This may not be the popular opinion but I'm sure many experts will agree.

I'd trade Ray if a trade made the team better.  However, there are very, very few trades I can think of that would improve this team.  Ray is the man.

Wow, with so many "trade Ray" threads going around I thought I'd here crickets here or get laughed off the board for my opinion. Good to see some people appreciate Walter as much as I do.

Ray scored 22 and the guy he mainly defended scored 44.
I see what you mean. I wonder why the Celtics almost lost this game? Good thing he hit that clutch three but then had the ball stolen from him which almost led to a game winning dunk. If that never happened we'd never had gotten to see Paul Pierce play 5 more minutes on a newly repaired knee.

Well at least Friday, Ray will get an easier match-up. Oh, that's right we have Atlanta again. Didn't they beat us? Last time we faced them Ray's defense helped Johnson and Crawford combine for 42.

Seriously!!! That's like the 30th time he's hit a fantastic clutch shot! I love Ray Allen so much! I would hate to see him traded - marveling at his ability to curl to the wing and nail a three literally EVERY SINGLE TIME WE NEED IT makes me laugh out loud with joy!

In the clutch, I love him shooting the ball.  I dislike him trying to handle the ball.  He makes questionable decisions and turns the ball over too much for me to be comfortable with it. 

The ball should be one of two places to start every possession down the stretch of close games:  in Rondo's hands, or in KG's hands.  When they run the offense, good things happen.  I exclude Paul here because I've run out of confidence in the PP Iso play (the PP/KG pick-and-pop is gorgeous though, ask the Knicks).  Drives that put him at the line in the second quarter end up with awkward, off-balance shots in the fourth when the officials put the whistles away, and he loses a lot of his effectiveness when he can't get to the line.  That stepback jumper hasn't been falling for him this year.

Amen! I was watching that last play in regulation in slow motion (don't ask me why, it just helps with the stress), and as he received the ball, thoughts of his idiotic turnover last year vs. San Antonio, when he just kind of gave the ball to Ginobili on the inbounds, crossed my mind.

Absolutely ... this is a very rare individual, an extremely talented basketball player with one of the best pure shooting strokes of all time, and the ultimate mentor and hero, with a demeanor, integrity and character that seems so hard to find these days. One-of-a-kind, and I truly hope he retires as a Celtic ... they don't come any better, and there's no one who epitomizes "Celtic Pride" more effectively or with as much class as Ray Allen.

Ray's best line of the night was during the post game interview with Jason Jackson he mentioned that Rondo might be the only player in the NBA to be able too pull off that oop from Pierce's alley. Take that Chris Paul.
