KG is absolutely completely untradeable at this point.

Look at his contract, look at the injury concerns, and look at his declining play. Unless we're taking back god awful contracts (Eddy Curry-esqe) we're not trading KG.

Contending teams would line up to take him off of our hands.
What contenders would offer pieces that would make the Celtics better in short or long term?

I'm not saying we should trade him. I'm not saying we'd improve our team if we did. But saying that he's untradeable because of inuries and declining play or that we could'nt unload him unless we took on bad players with bad contracts is ridiculous.
Not really, what team would give up young talent for him?

Yes really. Even if a team only offered us expiring contracts for KG that's much better than you said we could trade him for.
What I meant by Eddy Curry-esqe was a big contract with a garbage player attached. That's likely all we could get for him expirings or a shorter deal.

The only way we get any talent is for another highly paid but declining player. (ala Shaq for Shawn Marion)

Your original point was that, because of his injuries and declining play, we couldn't trade him unless we were willing to take back "god awful contracts". In other words, we wouldn't even be able to trade him for expiring contracts. I disagree with this and with your assessment of KG's value. I'm sure we could get prospects and/or draft picks as part of the package if we traded him.
An expiring contract for a bad player is still a god awful contract in my mind. What sort of assets or trade do you think we could get, I'm curious.

I'm not sure the point of this discussion. How would we ever trade KG without taking back contracts? Why are expiring contracts as god awful as the 6 year $55M (or so) contract for a player like Eddie Curry?

We cannot trade Kevin Garnett. How are you giving up so easily on one of the greatest players in the NBA? He is the great ticket. He is the Man and he is going to come back. So much rushing to judgement and wanting to trade makes me want to scream. A little patience here please?

If we were to try to trade him, we would have all the best teams fighting over him and he would come back and kill us and we would so regret it. KG is all about winning and he will be the first to admit if he cannot play anymore or for a time.

We need a devotion to KG thread because the negativity and paranoia here and the fickleness is pathetic. He won the 08 Championship for us, along with our other great players, and he was totally inspiring his team to win, not just play. He and PP were our leaders then and we owe him, at least, a little faith. And how about appreciation. Do you consider that while he is healing, he might be reading this thread?

Good news about KG. He practiced today and looked great. Doc won't play him in Detroit tomorrow ; he said Friday is still the target return date.

Here is a video of KG in practice (very intense as always :)) :

And shooting after practice : http://www.twitvid.com/A533B

KG can shoot the three, maybe he will shoot some in games along Sheed? :o (Just kidding)

Looks good to me, can't wait to have him back on the court.

Gah!  Don't bump this out of left field on me, I thought it was a new thread!  Almost gave me a heart attack (not really)

EDIT:  Thanks anonymous mod for clarifying the thread title.  Little too late for my poor ticker though.  :-[

Yeah, Friday can't come soon enough.  We need KG to snap out of this slump, not even necessarily for production but for his presence on the court and getting our rotation back together.

KG is going to be fine.  I'm confident that he could have come back sooner, but the team allowed him to get 100% healthy.  I think people around here will quickly remember how great the player they're currently underestimating is.
