That one's fine because it reminds us that the Lakers only really have 10 titles.

If this is really a recurrence of last year's injury, I don't understand why they don't just say what it is. Why not just say, the same knee and same problem has come up again and we're not sure how long he'll be out. We'll advise when we have a better estimate of when we think he'll return.

What's wrong with that? I don't understand this big mystery game all the time. I think it's incredibly irritating and very irresponsible and unfair to the fan base that fills the stadium seats every night and pays the bills.

At least then we as fans could say "ok, this is the team, this is the expectation. When and if KG comes back, it'll just be a huge bonus and nice suprise".

Whats' so hard about that? I really hate the cloak and dagger crap, it serves no purpose.

Meanwhile, being an optimist, perhaps this year they are being straight forward and it simply is a hyper-extended knee that requires 2-3 weeks and if we're winning they might pad his break a few weeks for good measure and let the other players get in the groove ( Sheed and baby particularly).

I would like to think that's what it is but KG ducking out when media comes into the practive facility and the vagueness of the reports and comments makes one uneasy.

From Chris Forsberg's Twitter :

Quote
Doc says KG is 10 days away; worked our for first time today.

Doc notes KG hasn't done any activity since being benched, joking it's a "minor miracle" he's been inactive for so long.

Sounds like it really was an hyperextended knee and they were just being ultra cautious. We will still have to wait until we see KG back on the court but I guess Doc was honest this time.

Edit : an update :

Quote
Doc says KG return in next 10-14 days; expects more like 10 with KG. worked out on bike and ran today, first cardio since injury.

Doc notes that hyperextended knee has just about healed, all that's left is ramping back up KG's conditioning.

It sucks in the short term, but really all that matters is that this team is 100% for the playoffs.

IF IF they are telling the truth about the hyper extension here it is in a nut shell:
if a player has something like the hyper injury on top of coming back from the surgery; a player might favor the hyper extension thereby making another injury more possible
this could be the other knee, the surgical repaired issue etc, actually quite common
so i'm guessing that eddie lacerte is to blame for this (thank god)

If its 10 days from today that matches the original two weeks timeframe.

well said. just some common sense and respect for the best fans in the nba.

seems to me like too much similarity for this not to be connected to the original injury which started in the utah game last season. too many hard miles on those legs.

i'm sure this question has been discussed on this board ........ but i'm curious what the consensus in boston is:

if garnett never fully recovers and this group only wins one banner, was the big trade worth it in the end ........... considering the Celts gave up all that youth (including the draft choice for ray allen)?
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Completely worth it, the goal is to win titles in Boston. There was never any guarentee that our youth would truly contend.

Of course. Has that youth shown to be anything since that trade. Jefferson and Gomes are very solid, but have not improved by leaps and bounds. Gerald green is obviously out of the league, Delonte seems like he has really serious issues and may work his way out of the league before too long. How does that group collectively not a good trade for even just one title?

Don't forget Jeff Green. (or anyone else would could have taken with the 5th pick)

This obviously isn't as simple as what they're saying.
Whoever suggested recently that we could have seen the last of KG for the season could seriously be right.
Have to worry...

If he is out another 10 days, that will make it a month, right?

Any reporter who is capable of basic arithmetic should be calling Glenn to task on his KG timeline.

But somehow I have a feeling a month or so from now we will see Dickerson announcing that Doc told him that KG is 10 to 15 days away from getting out of his hyperbaric chamber and saying this is "good news."

I feel like the character on the original Pelham 1-2-3 who says, "Can't none of us count? They all four of them got off! There's nobody driving the freaking train!!!" (Cue screaming as subway car hurtles toward certain doom.)
