Bobby Simmons is the guy I am hoping gets bought out.  I don't know if he is injured or what, but he hasn't been playing much for the Nets, and would benefit greatly from working out a buyout, and catching on with a contender.  He is dramatically overpaid right now, but he would be a great addition to this C's team with his length, shooting ability, and defensive ability.
For me that guy is Larry Hughes. He is expiring. he is at a position we could use(wing), he's a good defender, and he can slash, score and pass while taking decent care of the ball. Basically a bigger, longer, better version of Tony Allen without all the turnovers.

I know he would be a little redundant on this team with Daniels and Tony but I think Tony's going to be traded and Hughes is a better fit to guard big wing players than Tony.

I was thinking about him too, but does he have anything left?  The last few times I saw him play, he looked completely cooked.  But you are right, if he has anything left, and can still defend, he would be perfect.
I thought Larry Hughes looked pretty good earlier on in the season. He was awful last year though.

Bobby Simmons is a great name. I'm interested in him too. Big strong small forward. It'd be nice to have that type of size, a different sort of wing at least in physical terms, off the bench. Instead of three shooting guards (Daniels, TA, Hughes/Hassell). Good shooter, rebounds the ball and is a decent defender. Simmons would be a nice pickup. He'd offer something different than what the team already has.

Yeah, I bet Rondo can't wait for Rafer to back him up.
Celtics fan for life.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Wow, the perfect pg for our bench...

Danny better be on Alstons porch right now.

He has size, shooting, and is a legit pg.

Interesting -- I'd like the C's to stay away but it's very tempting. I want the Celtics to keep House in the rotation due to his shooting ability and I don't like the idea of a House-Rafer backcourt or a three man perimeter rotation (Rafer/House/Daniels) off the bench. I prefer a shorter rotation. But it's very tempting. I like Rafer's game.

Except for the lack of size of Eddie at the 2, this would be a great perimeter rotation! Rafer is excellent on drives, he can create his own shot, he shoots OK from three or midrange (not his biggest weapon, that's fore sure), House can shoot, and Marquis is really good going to the hoop and has a nice midrange shot.

The three of them playing together would be really good, and we would have our backup PG in case Rondo is injured (knock on wood).

However I have some concerns about Rafer being a guy who can create chemistry problems. He is not a "cancer" by any means but I remember he started a controversy about his role and Jameer Nelson's in the last playoffs. Also, maybe he and Eddie don't like each other, and I don't see Rafer getting along with Rajon. Alston could complain about playing time, too.

But overall he ould be a good fit since we lack a backup PG.
I would take Skip to My Lou any day. The big thing with him in the playoffs was the fact that the Magic were winning games with him, and VanGundy forced Jameer back into the starting start. I'd be p---ed to. It's kinda like forcing KG back in too early b/c it ultimately helped LA win that series. Out of sync PG and locker room drama equals expected defeat.
But in any case, I'd take Rafer over House or Quis for PG. Plus with Rondo out, that would give Rafer starting time to mesh.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Yeah he has kind of a bad rep, but in recent years he has seemed to make his teams better.
