New scenario. You're stuck on an island and the only people that know you're there is the North Korean government and they decide not to help you off the island, but they will drop you music. What music genre do you ask for?

Is the point of this thread somehow different from asking people what genre of music they listen to?

If I'm thinking in terms of what I'd most like to listen to gimme the blues.  The key here is also having the time to listen to it.  Most of the rock stuff I love is an offshoot of the blues anyhow...

But if we're talking which type of music I think would make for the most interesting to be stuck on an island with, I'd go with jazz.  So many different ways to go with it, and you could live out your days exploring them all.

Then again I'm on an island so maybe reggae would be appropriate.

And one more thing.  The fish can hook me up with a nice Wurlitzer ot Seeburg jukebox from the 50's.  No digital crap.  Straight vinyl.

Yup

I only listen to hip hop, so I really don't have any other genres to choose from. Could I ask for a burned mix CD? if so It'd probably look something like this

Kingship by Bored Stiff w/ The Grouch
Survival of the Fittest by Mobb Deep. This song would be fitting
Shook Ones by Mobb Deep
How Can It Be by Reks
Put it On by Big L
Dream Shatterer by Pun
HalfAnimal by CunninlLynguists
Old School by CunninLynguists
Evil Hearts by Code Red
Freedom of Speech by Immortal Technique
Industrial Revolution by Immortal Technique
Get Fly by Atmosphere
Knuckle Up by Snowgoons
Mood Music by Akir
Too Much by Cage
Suicidal Failure by Cage
White Flag by Creed Chameleon
So Far by Sleep

Pretty well balanced list if I do say so myself.

I'm listen to Tupac all the time, since I was old enough to understand english(11-12 years old), and I still can't find a singer or a raper equal to him in any terms.
So all of his albums and songs would be more than enough.  :)

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
1) Classic Rock from 60-75
2) Punk/Ska from 1985-2000(wider genre than most people realize)
3) Grunge/Alt but NOTHING AFTER 2002!!!!!!

I couldn't really see anything else getting it done. I keep seeing myself going crazy and saying "If I hear one more (profane) song like that from the (whatever other) genre, I'm just gonna start swimming, and leave it up to god."

I mean I love MoTown more than most people. But I could see scratching off my own ears if I hear "ain't no mountain high" one time too many.

I sure wish KG would get healthy and the rest of the team so I dont have to read this type of a thread and we can discuss bball. Nothing personal, it's intersting, but man there just hasnt been much worth coming to this site for as of late.

Meh. People get down on the team after hard losses, and there are only so many "sky is falling" threads I can read before my mind wanders. The last loss to the Hawks was particularly distressing just because it looked at halftime like it was our game to lose, which we did. I guess its times like these that my mind on here gets a little less focus and looks for distractions. You see, if we can't focus on the team, then..SQUIRRLE!....we tend to focus on less basketball related things. It's hard to debate an injury, yah?
