Eddie the energizer can play minutes at the point and Hudson is much more composed than JR. He is a stone cold scorer and would be great teamed with Eddie since he can guard bigger 2 guards. So my prediction is that we see a lot of Hudson and Eddie or Tony and Eddie or Ray and Eddie. JR will only be filling in at SF because we need Tony to help bring the ball up :o

I Think TA will be starting for Rondo, and Giddens will just fill the void at that three spot.

Giddens could flourish without the "if you mess up your out" attitude flying at him. His game looks like he needs to relax, knowing he has guaranteed minutes will help.
You're right, that's why I would like to see Walker instead of JR. Walker looks like he's been there forever.
But better Jr than Scal, I got nothing against Scal, but the time has come where Doc needs to give young guys some time on the court.

Maybe Doc knows something that you or we don't, like maybe he's seen better things out of JR than Walker.  Just a thought.

Well J.R. fans will have their one game in the sun.

Plus its against a team that's allergic to defense!

i love watching are new guys being successful, i really hope jr can take advantage of this.

it would have been nice if he had played a single meaningful minute up until this point before getting a start...

he's likely gonna be a wreck out there.

i don't think this is a showcase.

they probably trust his defense a little more than others,

while attempting to maintain a strongish bench... house, scal, lester??? all 3 of whom should be starting over j.r.

anyone else worried that ray will play 48 minutes tonight?

toronto is going to be a nightmare to defend.... we're throwing 3 shooting guards at them. their coming back with 2 small forwards and a big point guard, not to mention bosh.

perkins needs to take over down low... something we haven't actually seen... i would have said sheed, but he's gonna be sucking wind after trying to d up bosh or bargnani

i don't know who i trust less bringing up the ball ta or ra. ta is a bungler, and ra doesn't actually make great decisions with the ball...

perhaps the choice for giddens is less his "pg" skills than his defensive ability?

who will match up with Turkoglu? maybe that will be giddens mission... harass the living heck out of Turkoglu and hope that defense by the celtics win the game.

Turk is going to miss this game, as is Calderon.

  • You say when......
Well, now maybe some of you small picture guys will start to understand the bigger picture, why develop other players you ask, all i want to see is the starting 5 you said.....it isn't our job to develop younger players you say.....you couldn't have played much hoop in your life, because you don't understand the constaint strain and possible injuries, a good team has 5 good guys, a great team has backups at every position, that is why we have lester, and walker, and sheldon, but they will never be really ready to fill in (like in the playoffs) unless the get to PLAY IN REAL TIME, with the good players....injuries don't only happen in the regular season, could happen...even late in the "you know when"  i won't even say those words..but you know when i mean.....just a reality check for a few know-it-alls here, you know who you are.....!  PP's knee isn't a "it just happened thing, KG's knee, the same, rondo's is.." My philosophy is always the same, the only thing that matters is to make the playoffs, and be healthy, the regular season is just a "get ready for prime time" thing, ya, home court is nice, so is a perfect record, but what will home court matter if your stars are ailing...?

good point on the need to develop young players. but in this case for the celtics, it took injuries to pierce, rondo, AND daniels all at the same time to require the use of a "youngster."

it just seems to me that it is hard to anticipate every possibility and after a while, there is just so much ainge and doc can do.

currently, 4 out the top 7 celtic players are injured. i cant think of any team that would be able to replace 4 such players without a substantial drop off in quality of play.

that it took so many injuries to finally force the celtics to play giddens seems to speak positively of their depth (thanks danny) as much as it does giddens' apparent inability to beat out the veterans.

but, i agree that tonight is a game for watching youngsters. i hope hudson gets some time as well. i plan watch the youngsters and not worry about the win or lose...plus drink a lot to dull any painful performances by them.  ;D

I don't expect much from any of the 3 new kids. As someone who has been a fan of JR and one of the few that actually WANTED us to draft him from the beginning I hope he seizes this opportunity as previous young Celtics have done in the past and just plays free and aggressive out there. That said he hasn't shown me a lot at this level since he's been here. Maybe starter's minutes and hopefully some production is the springboard he needs.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

I am not saying they will be as good, but you never know what they will do until you put them out there, say a good amount from Oct-Jan, early Jan..then you will know what they can give you, players rely on the coach's confidence in them to develop confidence in themselves, along with the rest of the team, so having the starters pass to you, run a play for you, it really helps them get their game on, you all know when you play with scrubs, your game gets....scrubby, when you play with stars, you rise up...!
