Mine are usually mundane and I seldom manage to fulfill them (although one year I did actually lose weight  ;D ).  This year mine is to try to become a better person who (I am usually oblivious) notices when I need to step in to help before the situation becomes dire.

I just heard a local news reporter say that since he always fails at his resolutions, this year his resolution is to drink more, gain 10 lbs and spend more time at work and away from his family.   ha ha ha ha

i normally dont do resolutions, but this year i have two:

1.  be more forgiving
2.  dont swear, ever!  i used to swear a lot before my son was born, but i stopped a lot.  he is almost 4 yrs old and i have yet to ever swear in front of him, but when i am out with friends or he isnt around, i still swear.  i dont like doing it, it is a habit.  so i want to stop it altogether.

I'm toying with the idea of breaking the Red Hook brewery tour record...it's 135 times in a calendar year...

Mine is not to get upset watching a celtics game....amazingly i've held to it very well so far. Along with that i'm trying to control my mood swings a bit more.  :)

Here are my Celtics New Years resolutions.

I’m sure I could write 50 more, but I figured 5 would do the trick.

What are some other C’s  related resolutions heading into the New Year?

1. Remind myself as often as possible that the regular season is 82 games long.

Paul is hurt and KG is on the shelf. Cleveland is coming on strong and Atlanta is legit. We lost three straight and I’m ready to…..
Wait for it.
The season is 82 games long. Take a breath….and okay. The sky isn’t falling…yet.

2. Give up hope that Walker and Giddens will become consistent contributors to anyone but the Red Claws.

I want to it happen so badly, but let’s be honest. If they aren’t getting burn in a 20 point loss to Phoenix without Paul, KG, Baby, and Marquis…it ain’t happenin’

3. Stop professing like I’m some sort of expert when my friends ask where I think Lebron will end up.

I know I want to come across like I’m Marc Spears 2.0, but I don’t know as much about the NBA is I like to tell people I do. Sure my 25 minute long theory that Miami will lure him with the chance to play with D-Wade, the timing of Lebron committing to wear #6, and the Florida tax benefits, makes me feel like I’m in the know. But, I really have no idea…so I’m going to stop pretending that I do.

4. Remember that I am a season ticket holder when I go to Celtics games and act accordingly.

“Dollar drafts before the game? Sure I’ll meet you there!” “Three beers by halftime, why not?”

Now, I’ve been nothing but a perfect gentleman outside of a couple of F Bombs being thrown in the direction of Verajao, Kobe and Joey Crawford in the past. However, there’s a thin line that can become blurry after beer #5.

5. Remind myself as much as possible where this team was for the first half of the decade and appreciate every moment of this current roster.

As frustrating as it can be following a team with such high expectations, it’s a blessing that the bar has been set at this point. I’ll be telling my grandkids about this team one day. I can never lose sight of that, regardless of losing streaks or injuries.

Happy 2010 Everyone!!
"      “I can make a trade every day if I want to, but that's not going to help us. A trade that would get us better rarely comes along. They're very difficult to find. Good trades are very difficult in our league and don't happen very often.”
-Danny Ainge

Since this is CelticsBlog, I thought I'd give this question a spin and answer like this:

What should be the new years' resolutions for our squad & management? :D Let's give them a helping hand and suggest them some good habits, some major accomplishments etc :)

As a team, I think the most important one will be no.18, so let's not put that on the list ;)

Doc: Give our backups some minutes!
Danny: Hope he signs a backup PG!
Tom: I think he should fail at finding a job as a head coach (lol we need ya Thibs!)

Paul: Stronger drives please!
Kevin: Get some rest in!
Ray: Get your shot back :(
Rajon: Keep hitting the J & hit those freebies. Shot shot shot!
Kendrick: Less barking at refs!

Rasheed: I'm not going to ask him to post up more, because I think it'd be more effective if he'd hit more threes. So there it is: hit those threes [dang] it!
Eddie: Stop dribbling!
Marquis: Get that hand back in shape.
Glen: Make the most of the minutes you get!
Shelden: When you dunk, make sure the round thing goes through that hoop thing.
Tony: Limit turnovers. Period.
Brian: Please, please start hitting treys!

For the others: make the most of the minutes you get!

ps.: hope ya'll have a great last few hours of 2009, and enjoy the ride to no.18 in 2k10!

Cheerio!

.edit: crap, didn't see this topic. Dunno who moved this post of mine here, but thanks ;)

Personal ones for me:

- Go to Australia to live with my girlfriend
- Play decent basketball for longer than 15 minutes a game (after which I'm too tired and turn over the ball a lot :D)
- Get a tan (lol)

I hear ya Redz, I had my annual physical this week, too.  I am very healthy...but very unhappy with myself and my lack of progress on the weight thing.  In my case, talk is cheap.  I don't stick to my own advice.  This is harder than when I quit smoking!

Good job at quitting smoking though. That's a hard thing to do, or so I've been told ;)

At the risk of sounding a bit 'ghetto'; Respect!

Yeah, try to deal with my emotions better.

I'm bi-polar and have been under tremendous stress lately due to a number of personal situations. Not sure if the medication isn't working 100% anymore or because this is just a normal way of dealing with excessive stress but I've been a lot more emotional and taking a lot of my anger and frustrations out on the people around me.

My resolution is to get this under control and be better to the people around me who I love(my family) and I respect(my CB brethren, customers, friends, etc.). Already made appointments with the therapist(haven't seen him in a few years) and my psychiatrist.

But ultimately, I can't control my circumstances around me or the way they make me feel. I can only control how I act on those emotions and recently, that's been pretty poor. So hopefully a sterner will and awareness of what I am doing will allow me to keep my New Year's resolution a long, long time.
