Has anyone else listened to Simmons 12/30 podcast?  I'm 45 minutes into it right now, and he's spent the entire time getting down and dirty with Bucher about the Celts.  Bucher brought up a SUPER controversial issue that I had never heard anything about before.  It's regarding a rift developing between the younger faction of the team (Perk, Davis, Rondo) and the older vets.  He even went as far as to say that this could undermine the team's championship hopes!!  Simmons agreed with his analysis, but it was Bucher that brought it up.  Say want you want about Simmons' "journalism", but RB is a very respected NBA beat guy.  As fans should we just brush this off as nothing?  Listen for yourselves and decide. . . .

(listen to Part 1; Celtics talk ends around the 45 minute mark)

I didn't listen to the podcast and won't but as respected a writer as Bucher could be I seriously doubt he could sniff out a story like an age gap rift in the Celtics locker room and the local beat guys couldn't.

Do the Boston beat guys even go to all the games?  I'm not sure they do.  Back in the day they followed the team.  But now I think they just watch them on tv.  Also, Simmons claimed he saw it with his own eyes when they played the Clips the other night.

As a superfan, Nick, I'm surprised you would dismiss this so offhandedly.  It's clear there's something wrong with the team's mental approach to the game on some nights.  If you're sure Bucher is full of balogna, what's theory?

I think the rift was from last year, where Rondo organized a team meeting where some of the young guys confronted some of the vets about issues they were having.  Having read the article, I was under the assumption that was all water under the bridge.

Yeah, this is an old story.  I think too much was made of it when it first came out, and I think the fact that it is even talked about now is too much as well.

As Roy and CIO said, the rift story occurred last year.

Also, the beat guys do not watch the games at home. Who do you think is asking all the questions in the post game interviews? If there was internal problems going on in the lock room, the Boston media boys would be all over it. They were, after all, the first to report on the anger throughout the franchise towards Big Baby after he broke his thumb. And given the recent local stories from the Boston media regarding KG praising Rondo and Ray and KG talking to Rondo after his missed FTs, I think the Bucher story is 100% completely bogus.

Listen to the Podcast, around the 45 minute mark. Don't be so quick to assume this is old news.

Not sure if we'll ever know the truth here, but I would stress caution when considering statements by Simmons especially, and Bucher ... two guys who love to claim they have their finger on the pulse of all things Celtics, and enjoy nothing more than stirring the proverbial pot. Grain of salt for me.

I don't know if I would say its bogus, but I would say he is late to the party, and blowing it out of proportion.

A rift from this group? Can't believe it. We're talking about the most selfless team in the league. Maybe the Fakers, but not the Celtics. Even the outcast Marbury fit right in. ESPN more like TMZ.
