Very cool that Red's spirit was part of it ... from now on I'll think of your engagement whenever I pass the statue.
As you know I was recently engaged as well, and while my original plan was totally thwarted, my "back-up" ended up being far more than I had planned or expected, having a "lovers picnic" on a blanket on the beach at Boracay at sunset. So while maybe the original thing with the carriage didn't work out, having Red there was one of those unexpected bonuses, and a very appropriate one at that.
I personally believe that nothing happens by chance, and that God most likely had a hand in steering you in that direction.
