Congratulations.  May Red bless your marriage with many a hoarse voice, sly insult, cigar smokey cough and chinese food dinner.

Congratulations, Roy. I guess you just couldn't wait for the team to come back and pop the question on the Jumbotron during a game huh?  ;) :D ;D

May your nuptials(I always liked that word) be blessed, your love last forever and good fortune come your way. And if you have kids and happen to have three boys, I hope you name them Lawrence, William and Arnold.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
congrats Roy. I'm off my game right now or else I'd make some joke about this..maybe along the lines of "Red held on McHale Bird and Parish long after their prime, I'm sure your lady will take the same approach with you"...but I dunno. It didn't ring true.

wonderful! congrats Roy and many blessings on your life together

oh, and you are now contractually obligated to call your firstborn (girl or boy) Red

hey, if it comes out a brunette, it could be a fun ironical name

Roy might need her to sign a pre-nup to protect his Tommy Points in case of a future messy divorce. ;D

Really great to hear, Roy ... congrats and may God bless your marriage with many years of love, joy and companionship. Thanks for sharing the story ... didn't know you were in Boston, but I'm glad it was there instead of some place like Camden, NJ! ;) Very cool that Red's spirit was part of it ... from now on I'll think of your engagement whenever I pass the statue.

As you know I was recently engaged as well, and while my original plan was totally thwarted, my "back-up" ended up being far more than I had planned or expected, having a "lovers picnic" on a blanket on the beach at Boracay at sunset. So while maybe the original thing with the carriage didn't work out, having Red there was one of those unexpected bonuses, and a very appropriate one at that.

I personally believe that nothing happens by chance, and that God most likely had a hand in steering you in that direction. All the best, Roy ... to you and your bride-to-be ... for a very happy and prosperous future, and your new venture in the great state of Maine. You're right ... you can't go wrong with Red watching over!

Best story I've heard in a while. Maybe some day you can go back and give her 9 more rings so she has more than Red.

Now you have reason to have 5 kids and can name them Cousey, Russell, Hondo, Tommy, and KC
