As some of you guys may know, I've been planning on proposing to my girlfriend for awhile.  Well, Monday night, I popped the question (and she said yes.)

There's a Celtics-related twist here, so bear with me.  The original plan was to have a nice dinner (Top of the Hub), followed by us going over to Faneuil Hall and getting a horse-drawn carriage.  Small problem:  apparently, on week nights during the winter (or at least this week), the horses / buggies aren't running.  Oops.  (I thought I'd verified that, but oh well.)

So, I was stuck, since I really hadn't thought of a fallback plan.  So, I went and sat next to Red (the statute), and thought about how to go about it.  There were all kinds of trees lined with white Christmas lights, with a huge Christmas tree in the middle.  I decided to ask her there.  That's right:  I proposed maybe 10 feet from the Red statute.

(For those who don't know what the statute looks like, here's a generic picture):

Hopefully, Red blesses this marriage.  I can't go wrong, right?

Let's hope we're getting the Red who pulled off the Russell deal and the McHale/Parish for Joe Barry Carroll heist, rather than the Red who recommended the Celts select Joe Forte over Tony Parker. ;)

Well, Red brought much, much more good than bad to the Celtics, and of course I'm assuming my marriage will follow the same trajectory.  Plus, it's a good reminder that when you start thinking the grass is greener, you end up with a Pitino. ;)

Nice!  Congrats.

Did you light up a victory cigar when she said "yes"?
Yup

Hmm...  carrying on the analogy, the engagement is just a regular season win.  The cigars come out after the wedding ceremony.  I won't be taking anything for granted. ;D

Congrats Roy!  It certainly can't be a bad thing to have Red next to you when you popped the question.

Congrats Roy! Great job with the proposal!
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.
