I got absolutely skewered by many on this board for saying the following in a few posts a while back and I want to see if everyone still thinks I should have been skewered for those comments. Maybe it's because It's the holidays and I'm ready for a good argument but I'd really like to know if those of you who skwered me really still think the same.

1. In the first post, I said that Rasheed Wallace has a great low post game, somewhere around 10-12 feet from the basket and in an arc from baseline to baseline. I said I thought that we were greatly under utilising him by standing him out at the three point line and having him simply jack up threes all night. I said we should post him up a minimum of 4-5 times a game and then mix that up with occasional threes. I think it is abundantly clear that, AFTER DOC HAS BEEN STICKING HIM DOWN ON THE POST OFFENSIVELY MORE AS THE SEASON HAS GONE ON, that it is very clear he is perhaps our best, true, back to the basket, low post offensive option. He is deadly down there.

But instead what I got way back when I posted this was "Rasheed has no low post game, zero game in the post, you can't change a guy who's played on the perimeter his whole career ( which I completely disagree he's played his whole career on the perimeter). Anyway, I'd like to know if everyone who hammered that post, still really think s Rasheed blows on the low post? And that we should simply switch him back to doing nothin else on offense other than jacking 6 threes a night as some of you suggested.

2. I also made a post that with our aging team we shouldn't underestimate the impact that the young legs and physical hard nosed tough play of both Tony Allen and Big Baby would have coming off the bench with our agging team. Many of you said, Tony is worthless, should only see d-league minutes, etc...and stuff along those lines. And that youth and energy is overrated. Baby can't give us anything Shelden isn't already doing better, etc...

My argument was that both Tony and Baby provided something we really missed by not having Baby, Powe and Tony. Hard nosed, physical, energetic young guys coming off the bench.

I'd like to know if those who always skewer Tony and didn't think Baby would be of much use or may not get minutes behind Shelden still really feel that way.

I am more confident than ever that, especially whne we get Pierce and Marquis back that Big Baby and Tony's impact off the bench in terms of energy and toughness will be even more pronounced and more important. They will be able to fly under the radar of the full compliment of our first 7 players and will be able to dedicate their full energy to all the physical, dirty work chores that are so important for a championship team to get from their role players.

Their energy, young legs legs and physical play will be huge.

Tony in the passing lanes and on quicker wings defensively and Baby by the only other true brute after Perk, to throw some bodies around down low, making it easier for KG, Pierce, Ronod and Ray ( or whoever else is on the floor ) to board the ball and by faster defensive rotations than Shelden can provide and byt just being a wide load.

hmmmmm......something about the tone of this post.....

makes me think these are rhetorical questions.........
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I remember how half of this site wanted to trade Baby because we had Shelden. And saying Shelden gives the team more than Baby ever did.  ::) I wonder where those people are now?

1) Wallace is definitely a good low post player.  I would love to see more of him down there.  (especially in the playoffs)  I am just not sure the Celtics can get him to do it on a consistent basis.

2)  Davis play does help this team.  Glad to see him back.

3) TA is only good the majority of his play time when he is a starter, receiving starter minutes.  Unless Pierce is done for the season, that will not be the case.  I still think he will best serve this team in a trade.  (and no, not just a trade to get rid of him.  One that strengthens the Celtics playoff bench)

Sleeping with the enemy. If it wasn't for his lack of height, Glen would be more valuable than Sheed.

No.  Rasheed is a significantly better defender for more reasons than just his height.  He is also one of, if not our best, defensive rebounder.  And Glen's lack in this department is not fully attributed to his height.  Rasheed also has better range.  I'm not saying I'm not happy to have Glen back for bench support, but you're taking his contributions against the Clippers much too far.  There's a big reason Rasheed got $6mil, which was considered at the time cheap for him, and Baby got much less... and it's not all about height.

Loved seeing Baby's reckless abandon out there last night, and you have to love what TA's been bringing since his return.  But beyond the usual inconsistency and health concerns with TA, I'm mostly concerned with what he'll have to offer on a more limited basis when Pierce returns.  I think TA has been excellent paired up with Rondo in the backcourt.  The combination of those two guys quickness has been fun to watch.  I'm a little skeptical about what TA will be like when the majority of his minutes do not coincide with Rondo's.

Can't wait to see the full team together.
Yup

To the original poster and his "I told you so" post:  There were many people on here who said having Glen back would provide a needed boost of energy.  While I wasn't one of them, you certainly weren't alone.  As far as Tony Allen goes, I was in agreement that he had value and to give him a chance.  Again, you weren't the only one.

The great part of this blog is that there really isn't a right answer.  People voice their opinions and typically there are two sides to an arguement.  You weren't necessarily "right", but you weren't "wrong".

Also, we're still only looking at a few games for Tony, and 1-game for Glen (against the Clippers).  I think there are positives we can take out of it, but until we see how it all plays out (including the playoffs) the jury is still out.

Rasheed is a decent post up player.  He has a very impressive arsenal but he seems to lack the legs to shoot a good percentage over the course of an entire game at this point in time.

They're still here. Shelden played like a stud while out on the court doing exactly what we needed him to do. BBD comes in and in a total of 9 minutes of play does what Shelden did for 26 games this year and you are going to act like he's that much better than Williams? That is the first stretch in his career that he has had 9 boards in 9 minutes where Williams rebounding has been a strength his whole career. BBD played very well in 15 min last night. He looked awful the other day against Orlando. Let's see a few more games of great rebounding before we decide BBD has turned a new leaf.

Personally, I do not look at it as Baby replacing Shelden, I'm looking at it as Baby replacing Sheed.  I personally think Baby is going to be the offensive force off the bench.  Sure he doesn't have the 3 ball in his game, but he's just more efficient then Sheed.  He shoots a better percentage, I think he's a better passer and I really do think he's going to be the key off the bench for the reason of the year.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling for Sheed to not play, I just feel as if he should be the 2nd big man off the bench to Baby.  It's not going to happen immediately, but I do feel as if it'll happen within 10-15 games.
do it

LOL.  Baby was not terrible against Orlando.  He played only 3 minutes and grabbed 3 rebounds. ::)

I like Tony, I like what he brings to the team.  That said, I agree with you in that I would never sign him again.  Because it's always going to be something with him.  Not to jinx him, but if he keeps in line with his career pattern he's going to get in a goove for like a month, then he's going to have either a minor injury that will get him out of his groove, or a major injury that will keep him off the court.
