Who gets the call? (this is assuming KG is playing I suppose)

Tony Allen (roll the dice)
Scal (go with the intangibles)
Walker (go with the D-League scoring machine)
Wallace (go huge?)
Other (Giddens? House? Williams?)

Who's your bet?  I'm guessing TA, but I wouldn't mind giving Walker short minutes off the block.
Yup

I think you gotta start Tony and hope for the best.

TA has been playing really well, and he's actually pretty consistent as a starter. This game right here is why we didn't trade TA away for a bag of jock straps.

I went with Scal, only because I can imagine Doc deciding that he doesn't want to mess with something that has been working well the last few games (TA coming off the bench.)  He's done this in the past (starting people you wouldn't guess to preserve continuity.)

Scal, Tony, Walker, any way you shuffle it you're still picking your poison.

I don't like breaking Tony's rhythm off the bench. It would be better if they could keep that bench unit together and create some continuity for the bench itself + TA in particular.

Better to start Scalabrine and ask him to play 6-8 minutes at the start of each half. Then give Tony Allen some extra minutes off the bench alongside the starters late in each half.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Id rather start scal, with the red robin getting 10-15 total in the game, Tony getting 25-30, and Walker getting about 10.

Well Id rather start Walker but that's just a personal preference.

Start TA. He has been good lately, getting his confidence high. Can't say the sam  about Scal. And about Walker... worth giving him some minutes to finally see if he can contribute or not, this is his best chance to show his talents.

Starting TA is the logical choice and not really rolling the dice considering the other options. And the theory of having TA continue to come off the bench because he has played well there the last few games doesn't really fit because throughout his career TA has been a much better player starting then coming off the bench.

Scal is going to be needed to match up with ryan anderson...which i believe he can handle seeing anderson likes to shoot the 3 and isnt much off the dribble...i think walker will be needed to play the SG off the bench like reddick....sheed can handle gortat....sheldon can handle bass....

I don't think Scal is an option vs. the Pietrus/Carter wingmates.  Besides, Doc will be using him as the 1st 4 of the bench to keep Shelden from having to guard Rashard or Ryan Anderson.

TA's really the only option.  The real question is who comes off the bench at the wings, at least against Orlando.  I imagine they'll dramatically increase Rondo/Ray's minutes, and squeeze House for some minutes at the 2, but either Walker or Giddens will probably have to see 10 or minutes of real gametime.

If KG is out too, we're on our way to a sour holiday.

It'll be TA.  Without Daniels, he is the obvious choice.  Walker may see actual meaningful minutes due to the matchup problems this causes.  Scal can only match up with their 4's, not their 3's.

With TA starting, It means Scal+House will get bunch of minutes off the bench. That'll be disastrous. Why not start JR or Bill? That way we keep the ailing bench somewhat intact, and keep Scal's minutes down. It's a good evaluation for Bill+JR.

scal needs to play anderson...only..cant have him on lewis too much....but i am sure doc has an idea because they went against orlando last year without 2 bigs....this time around..they have plenty of bigs and need wings....totally a reversal
