Its ridiculous. I mean he can't make a move without a whistle. How can he keep his cool, when Officials clearly target him? The worst ones are offensive fouls. Those alone can sway a game. I wonder if this has anything to do with Sheed calling out NBA officials. Bunch of crooks. Maybe we should start a petition or something? Perk isn't getting a fair deal.

The Celtics should send a complaint into the league office about a couple of Perk's offensive fouls tonight. That last one in the 4th quarter was just a God awful call.

Perk seems to be garnering a little more respect from the officials. His minutes are certainly up this year which is clear evidence that he is staying out of foul trouble. I get a kick out of how this board reacts when he gets one tough call against him.

You can't blame the Refs. David Stern gives bonuses for making bad calls against the C's

He gets held a lot, but tonight was one of the only times I've seen them call it.

The next legal screen he sets will be the first.

After having been one of his biggest critics for a long time, I've long since come to love what Perk brings to this team, and I've been thrilled by his progress over the last couple of years.  But perhaps when he stops constantly jawing at the refs and looking stunned on moving screens, he'll be more likely to get the benefit of the doubt.

Or he could set screens legally...but that would really be re-inventing the wheel, since almost no one does at this point.

This is the part I was waiting for in your post.  That's what irks me about it.  It's true that a lot of this falls on Perk, but why is he whistled for such a disproportionate number of moving screens when it seems to be such a common practice among many players.

I mean I don't remember one other moving screen called on anyone (either team) last night.

Other than that last one, I thought Perk did legitimately set some moving picks.  I just want it to be called evenly is all.  I think its pretty standard practice to set moving picks in the NBA, and I wouldn't care if they just called everyone for moving picks when they do them.

It's such a fast paced game though, and it seems centers' minds are on the move cutting to the basket even before they have come to a complete stop to set the pick.

So, why is it so difficult to sat a legal pick? I mean you just have to stand still and not move. I can do that.

I agree that some fall on Perk. But at the same time i see so many moving screens not being called when i see other NBA teams play. it seems so common, and many big men get away with it. Perk seems to get called on every one

I don't know you, but I got 50 euro here saying that you're not his size, nor as explosive in movement.

It's harder for big men to stand still on a pick than it is for the small ones.

Setting a legal pick has much more to do with the person dribbling the ball than it does with the "picker". The problem is that the dribbler (usually Rondo) isn't waiting for Perk to get set before taking off. This forces Perk to move to try and still pick his guy. Then it is an easy call.   He doesn't get any leeway at all though. KG does the same thing and rarely gets a foul.

What makes Perk's illegal picks look extra illegal is that he leans into them.  His legs are set, but he nudges in with his shoulders.  While this is not uncommon, it is illegal, and whistled more frequently on Perk because of the combination of his size making it look more conspicuous and his propensity for complaining about calls making refs want to stick it to him (whether this is a chicken or the egg situation is a question for another time).

if Perk wants to get more respect from refs, he has to stop barking at them, pointing fingers in their face, making them look bad. When you embarrass refs, they're going to get back at you -- plain and simple.

I know this isn't related to the thread topic but, i can't figure out why Perk isn't a better rebounder. Perk is one of my favorite players in the league, but when i see Joakim Noah grabbing 21 rebounds every other night, i wonder why Perks' rebound numbers are so low compared to some other bigs.
