I consider myself a shareholder who helps pay those players
You're not a shareholder unless you're part of the ownership group. You are one of the team's customers.

I understand that I am not officially a shareholder, but without my dollars and those of all of the other fans who attend the games, there is a lot less money to pay the players. Total BS the way teams in all pro leagues are allowed to cover up injuries today.
True, but that doesn't automatically entitle you to accurate up to date injury information.

I'd think we should be given honest answers on long term injury issues, but that doesn't mean we have the right to constant accurate updates.

I saw everything except when/how he sustained the thigh bruise.  Did they mention that at any point?

No, they didn't. They said it's something that was "aggravated a some point".

Also, should we worry about this Pierce's quote from postgame? Out of its context (found on the Celtics Twitter) but I hope it doesn't have a link with the gravity of KG's "soreness"?

Quote
Pierce: "The fate of how far we go rests in Kevin's health."

Hopefully that means Pierce is just being supportive of giving KG some extra rest when he's ailing.

What the heck is this "Strategic Rest" bunk?

No wonder Indy came out fired up and kicked our butt in the 1st half. It is lack of respect for the opponent.

How is KG's health, really?

The thing with concealing injuries at this point is it might affect the outcome of potential trade. If, for instance, a team knows that KG is having problems and knows the extent of it then that might drive up the price of a player that could be involved in a trade. Beyond that, it really should be reported. I say he is just resting for the game against Orlando and that his knee is not an issue. If it were, he would have already missed games.

People need to realize that KG is not 100% and probably won't be for another 2 or 3 months ... that's just the reality of this type of injury/surgery. The good thing is that this type of problem responds best to strenuous physical activity, meaning he doesn't need to rest it much. Doc saw that he was favoring it while walking into the building and could tell he was a little sore, so decided to rest him.

He may have to do it again, (and more than once), before the end of the regular season, so get used to it and DON'T WORRY ... this is a NORMAL part of the recovery process. You also have to realize, the post-season is EVERYTHING, and that big picture is what they always have in mind ... they don't want to take any chances before then and if that means being overly-cautious at times, so be it.

They also want our showing on Christmas Day to be a positive thing, including Big Ticket. It's not the end of the world and it's not that they're trying to hide that it's worse than we think ... it's NOT, and KG is FINE. He'll be jamming again on Friday, so everyone chill ... it will be a good Christmas for KG and the Celtics. ;)

What is it with Boston sports fans and paranoia?

Maybe we're overreacting to KG's absence but after last year's conflictual reports and the lies from the staff, I think it's fair for us to panick a little bit.

Also, what concerns me is KG's attitude towards his own injuries :

Quote
Garnett was scratched just before game time with a right thigh bruise, the first game he has missed this season.

"I think everyone was looking around, and saw Kevin was not putting on his uniform," Pierce said. "This was right before the game. It's like, 'Kevin is not playing.' I guess it took us a half to realize that Kevin wasn't going to be out there. ... It was definitely an adjustment."

And the most important part :

Quote
Garnett was a late scratch with a thigh bruise after participating in the walkthrough with the team at 5 p.m. Rivers, who made no mention of the injury when he met with reporters at 6:40 p.m., said Garnett was hurt against Memphis on Dec. 14 but told no one except the trainer until Tuesday.

What's the point for Garnett to hide everyone that he was hurt 8 days ago? You can say that he told the trainer, Ed Lacerte, so it was OK but still... he is capable of hiding an injury to play, that's not what you want him to do, you want him to get rest.

This is the same KG who was limping around for how long on his knee before that fateful game in Utah in February?

The same KG who before coming to Boston essentially never missed any time due to injury? I'd be surprised if he didn't try to play through it for a while, it must have been pretty painful.

I'm not criticizing KG for trying to play through the pain, this is what you want to see from all your players, but after last season I think he should take nights off when needed to be healthy on the long term and for the playoffs.

You said "whats the point", I was just pointing out what KG's past behavior has been in similar situations.

I agree that he should take a few games off if it'll help him stay fresh.

He'll probably never again be 100%; he's not the young buck he once was.  That's okay, it's expected.  In fact, KG will likely miss more games in the future.  It's why Danny resigned BBD, signed Rasheed, and signed Shelden Williams.

The important thing is not to overplay KG now, but to save him for the playoffs.  One way to do this once KG returns to the lineup is for Doc to limit KG's minutes more than in the past.
Celtics fan for life.

I wasn't able to watch the game tonight but I just looked at the box score and saw that Shelden was dnp. With KG out I'm shocked he didn't play.
I saw that Scal played a lot was this a match up play? Do people believe that Scal will get the majority of minutes if KG doesn't play the rest of the week?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19
