nothing would surprise me with any pro athlete using PED's at this point.

Pedro Martinez? Adam Vinateri? Michael Sweetness?

He is totally on steroids. It's just a matter of time before he gets caught. My guess is he will finally get caught when Stern steps down and the new commissioner does what's right.

Is Stern ever going to step down?

Alright, lets get off Lebron. He's a beast for his position. So his Dwight Howard. Huge Celtics fan, but you can't deny his God given ability, drive, and work towards the dominating body. He looks unreal, but definitely innocent until proven guilty.

Now his attitude? Sore loser with terrible sportsmanship. I'll never forget the crab dribble, him disappearing to the locker room in losses, and him whining bout not getting calls EVERY time he drives to the hoop....Remember that game in Indiana, where they ran the inbounds oop pass and Lebron "got fouled" then Indy ran the SAME play for Granger and Lebron cried bout not fouling, even though he actually did foul Danny? Sucker, but not a juicer or anything like that
Can't stop, Rondo!

Pedro is one of the guys who is often linked to steroids.  As for Vinateri, who knows.  Wasn't the Panthers punter heavy into PEDs?

Seriously, it would surprise me if less than 50% of all NBA players was using.

Yep. I said this BEFORE he came into the league. Around the time when they were showing some of his high school games there was a story about how rampant steroids was in high school.  I had no idea that they were using steroids in high school.  It was said that even the parents were encouraging it to give their kids an edge.  When I first saw Lebron I said there is no way a 16 year old kid is developed like that already.

It would not surprise me if James, Dwight Howard, Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo, or anyone else other than Scal (unless, like me, you consider donuts PED's) were using PED's.

 :)
Mmmmmm, donuts....
Celtics fan for life.

There's a difference between "make you sick and really hit you in the gut" and "surprised"

I would actually be far more surprised if they got some top top doctors to look at him and say "Actually, he's 100% natural, but just to be sure we're going to follow him around with a video camera for a year" and after the whole year he had never used once and he was just plain all natural.

That would shock me

Well...I'd be shocked and disappointed if this was true. I have followed the NBA since like 1980, and I can't remember any player having the same physical build and speed and athleticism like Lebron.

As I try to think back through those years, the "SuperStars" of the League even had somewhat normal physics for their size.

Michael Jordan was a freak of nature, but only from the ability and determination side of the house...he could not come trucking down the lane and knock over Kendrick Perkins.

Lebron is truly one of a kind.

Yeah, I might actually have Vinatieri relatively high on the list...at least as far as kickers are concerned.  He is a big guy, and he always seemed to pride himself as being a real football player.  I could see him using.

For the sake of pro basketball, I hope he's not using any PED's.

But honestly, I don't think his strength/weight is out of the ordinary.  The man is 6'8", that gives him a lot of extra weight.

Look at an NFL linebacker for example.  Take a 6'1", 240 pound middle linebacker, they say each added inch is approximately 5 pounds (although it would be more for someone like that.  That would put that linebacker at about 280lbs if he was 6'8".  Look at an NFL tight end, say Antonio Gates for example, he's 6'4" and 260 lbs.

So really, LeBron isn't any bigger than a solid nfl linebacker/tight end, so connecting him to PED's is a little premature without any evidence, IMO.

also, I dont know a whole lot about golf, so forgive me, but how the hell would PEDs help you in that sport anyway, other than obviously helping out your drive a little.  I mean, golf is a sport more based on mental judgement than physical ability right?  Being able to smack the crap out of the ball with a driver doesnt help you so much when you need to decide what club to use in a situation where you can only use 60% of your full swing

PEDs have been used in sports like diving, skii jumping, bobsleigh, skating, auto-racing, bowling, curling, shooting, etc. And you recently had a chess grandmaster, ranked 3rd in the world, who refused to take a doping test. There are more PEDs than HGH and steroids. But as said, certainly that HGH can help a golfer.

---

The only remarkable thing about PEDs in the NBA is that almost nobody gets caught. That's generally the best indicator that almost everybody is using PEDs.

I've thought so since I first time I layed eyes on him.  He was a man-child at age 18, fully developed muscles and everything.  The only thing that has changed about him is that huge goiter on his neck, another common symtom of steroid users.

His teen years were right in the heart of the steroid era.  Think about it, LBJ at age 16 with sky's the limit hype -- in the year 2000 -- I bet he had the pick of the litter of a wide variety of PED's.

I was attending a D-3 college about that same time, even those athletes had readily available juice.  It was easier to get than a case of beer.

With the amount of NBA players who are built like pro wrestlers, widespread usage shouldn't surprise anyone.
