it's nothing:

"The Golden State Warriors have yet to receive an attractive offer for Anthony Randolph, according to Yahoo Sports, which means teams may still be scrambling to put together a package for the high-ceiling forward.

Randolph's agent told ESPN.com's Chris Broussard that his client isn't against a trade, but, as Broussard pointed out, he may be a tough asset to trade because he is valued far higher than his $1.8 million salary. New York and Houston were mentioned as possible landing spots.

Real GM also reported that though the Warriors don't want to trade young guards Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and Anthony Morrow, they aren't in a position to rule anything out. So it's possible that the blockbuster trade might be be on the way to send Randolph out of town with a bigger salary."

Here is what they say.  It is just a misleading headline.

Agents, don't you love them?

In today's market, 1.8M would be overpaying for Randolph.

Nelson has been critical of this kid from the moment he was drafted.  What kind of offers did they expect lol?

Bad attitude or not, Randolph IS valued way over $1.8M. Many see him as a potential star. He is putting up over 20/10 + 2 blocks per 40 minutes at age 20.

Apparently they want to unload him with the Maggette contract.

Tony Allen
Big Baby
Scalabrine
Hudson
Giddens

FOR

Maggette
Randolph

Works under the ESPN Trade Machine... only works for Golden State if they really just want cap relief.

I'd do it in a heartbeat, even though I like Big Baby. Randolph would become our heir to Garnett and Maggette would be a very nice 6th man.

I know it's common knowledge, but that's pretty pathetic having that information stuck behind the Insider tag. It literally adds no new information whatsoever and yet you're expected to pay a price for it! Bah!

Watch out for Cleveland on this one - they could easily do something like:

A. Randolph
C. Maggette
M. Moore

for

Z. Ilgauskus

Z is horribly out of place on the Warriors, but if they're throwing in the towel on the season, they could make the trade and take the expiring or buy Z out.  Cleveland gets Moore as a (lousy) backup for Shaq but now has a solid young PF (better than Hickson), a scorer off the bench, and a more solid future foundation as LeBron bait.  Alternately, GS could use their Crawford trade exception, keep Moore, and just buyout Z and he could resign with the Cavs.

I really, really hope this doesn't happen, though...don't know what GS is thinking dumping the guy instead of firing Nelson like they should've done a year ago.

Huh?  Maybe I am misunderstanding, are you saying that he has no value??

I know there are some makeup questions with Randolph, but Randolph is a hell of a talent.  Despite the fact he has been in and out of Nelson's doghouse, he is averaging 11.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 22 minutes...all at age 20.

Now, the fact that he is not known as a workaholic may keep them from getting top value for him, but he is still an incredibly valuable asset, and if he did go out on the open market would be making significantly more than $1.8 million.

Ultimately, if they trade this kid, they are going to either be able to get a star-level player, or get rid of some terrible contracts.

The deal I expect to go down will be something along the lines of Ellis, Maggette, and Randolph for Amare and Barbosa.  That gets rid of a bad contract, and a couple unhappy campers, and brings in the perfect big man for Nelson's offense, and a guard he will absolutely love.  And it gives Phoenix a young replacement for Amare, and a PG to eventually take over for Nash.

This is a very good trade for us. With the way Williams is playing we don't really need Big Baby and every one else is just scrubs. If that could be done it should be.

I don't see it.  And which other two players does CLeveland jettison?

And how many points does he give up?  He's very raw and inconsistent.  Frankly I'd think twice about trading BBD for him.

He's a project, plain and simple, and most projects don't work out.  If you can get him cheaply, fine, but I would not break the bank to add him to our roster.

I'm in agreement with you that he's still raw and a project but I think $1.8 million is nothing to pay for potential.

I wouldn't trade BBD for him, either, but he still has value and I think $1.8 million certainly isn't overpaying.

Good point - any actual deal would probably have to include at least one more Cav or one more Warrior.  I mostly think Cleveland would be interested in this; they wanted Jackson pretty badly, and Maggette gives you a lot of the same things he does.  A guy with the talent of Randolph is a huge bonus on that and helps their frontcourt now and going forward.  And Z is the most likely contract to be moved in a major deal.  They can't be thrilled with how the season's started, either.

Why would Cleveland want Randolph when JJ Hickson is better, and they can't find enough minutes for Hickson?

Ilgauskas is a nice chip at the deadline to try to pick up a Jamison or Butler from the Wizards.  Cleveland should wait.
