Maybe this is wishful thinking on my part, but it seems to me that over the last few games, especially since he broke his finger, the heroic Kobe has resurfaced, the one who feels like he has to take over games because his teammates can't: 24 shots against the Jazz even though he was sick and hurt his team by taking them; 26 shots against the Bulls, who were only in the game because of the Lakers'(Kobe's) lack of offensive imagination.

Gasol was grousing after the Jazz game about his lack of touches. And he's right to, as even though Kobe is the Lakers' best player, maybe even the league's best, Gasol is their most valuable player. The Lakers can't win a title when he's merely a role player in the Kobe Show. Which is why as a Celtics fan, I love it when Bad Kobe appears.

Lakers are just positioning themselves so they don't have to face the wrath of the Celtics in the Finals this year (a la 1986).

Yes, Kobe is exhibiting some bad habits and he is hurting his teammates offensively a fair bit.

That said, these issues aren't extreme enough to alter the situation for LA. Comparable to last season. The last couple of games have been worse than that but that's only a temporary situation, it'll pass.

It was all about Kobe in the first quarter of the Bulls game last night.  Almost every possession he was taking things into his own hands and shooting the ball.  The remaining Lakers were, indeed, standing around.  Kobe had 20 at the end of the quarter but the Bulls had the lead.

I don't think its going to become a permanent thing either but early on last night certainly looked like the Old Kobe Show.

I thought this thread was going to be about Kobe in a hotel in Chicago.  Guess that's why I shouldn't assume.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of the things that happen at this point of the season really is going to play an effect come playoff time.  Right now they have plenty of time to get things together.  I mean, just a couple of weeks ago we were talking about the Celtics not playing together and today we are the top team again.
