Not sure who to give the credit to, Doc Rivers or Rasheed Wallace, or a collaboration of both. But I am absolutely loving the fact that Sheed has been puttin in more work in the low post. It seems that ever since we started this 8 game road trip, Sheed has been diversifying his game alot more, and to no suprise we have been playing much better basketball.
There are definetely other factors to us playing better; Garnett's 73% shooting streak, Rondo's leadership and aggressiveness, Perkins offensive consistency and anchoring defense, but Sheed's low post play has put the biggest smile upon my face. It gets him to the free throw line more and in better position to get offense rebounds which he converts at a very high percentage, because of his high release and soft touch. This gives the 2nd unit a whole new look, as they now have a reliale place to go down low for 2 points instead of relying on long jump shots.
I also would like to Sheed get more minutes when he has it rolling. I know he is 10-15bs overweight, but he can handle an occasional 30-35 min night. Doc seems so set on his rotation and playing Sheed about 20-24 mins, but if he is playing better than KG or Perkins that night, let him play and let him get in a good rhythm. I also think he is our best big at getting steals. He always seems to come up with a couple good strips a game in very limited minutes.
I hope Sheed contnues his good work in the post and actually gets in there even more. Ideally I would like to see him shoot 65-70% of his shots in the post and 30-35% from three point land. Is that to much to ask?
