I concur with GF - this is a thread that I would categorize as "purely opinion" and therefor could have pretty much anyone on it. I happen to know that, while he is my personal favorite, there are those here at CB who do not like Paul Pierce ... at all.

When reading a "purely opinion" thread it's good to keep in mind that everyone is entitled to like or dislike any Celtic they wish, for whatever reason, and while we may find that to be almost inconceivable at times, without allowing them their opinion, what right do we have to our own? ;)

Exactly, which is why I am not surprised by seeing anyone's name in this thread. It is not a thread asking for the worst performing players of the last decade of Celtics players. It is a thread asking for the least favorite.

I liked 1990's Antoine. Disliked with a passion 2000's Antoine. I feel they were very different players under different coaches. Tony Allen, as I explained, I have never liked. I like players that are smart and play smart and play within themselves. Tony, except for this particular year, is the complete opposite.

This thread has nothing to do with efficacy or skills or PPG or RPG or leadership abilities or ability to play a role. It has to do with whether you liked a player or not. I don't like Nate Robinson. He appears to be a nice little player. I don't like him though, mostly do to all the off the court stories I've heard.

Just opinions on like and dislike, that's all.

Good Point Nick and Bahku.

I over-reacted in my earlier "shocked" icon, I suppose. I am so used to seeing the Mark Blounts and Joe Fortes, but not the TA's and Antoine's in a thread like this.

That is why this Blog is so successful..we can all see things differently, I think.

I understand the title says least favorite.  It's just a little mind-boggling to see names like Tony and Antoine in the same category as Blount and Baker.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Again, why? It wouldn't surprise me to see Paul Pierce's or Kevin Garnett's name in this thread.

Was it sexyscottish or stanthompsonismyhero that absolutely HATED Paul Pierce? Every thread they created in some way seemed to be trying to convince people to run Pierce out of town. Can't remember if it was SS or stan but one of them despised Pierce.

I also remember a lot of Big Al fans that couldn't stand KG when he first got here. There still might be some of those people around.

This is about liking a player not about whether we thought they were good. I didn't and never have like Tony Allen's game. I loathed Antoine's game under Jim O'Brien. Nothing to do with their ability to play, just didn't care for them.

I remember BigJohn really wanting Pierce gone.  Or, maybe that was HRB. One of the old-school Celticsbloggers.

The guys I really despised were those that were either out-and-out ****s (Joe Forte) or who never really acted like they cared, or tried to get the most out of their abilities (Skippy).  Skippy was a helluva player when he was gunning for a contract!

Antoine, I hated his game, but at least he cared.

Starbury, hated him before he came here, but at least he seemed to TRY and play ball the right way when he was here.

Ricky Buckets, again - hated him before he got here, didn't like his game, but he was what he was, a scorer who didn't do much of anything else.

Vin-and-tonic, the dude was sick.  Hated, HATED the trade from the moment they made it.  Hated watching him struggle.  Hated that he wasted so much.  End of the day, though, a guy that's reduced to drinking mouthwash is a guy that I pity, not a guy that I hate.

In order:

1) Mark Blount
2) Gin Baker
3) Wally Sczerbiak
4) Glen Davis
5) Jiri Welsch
6) Sebastian Telfair
7) Gabe Pruitt
8: Delonte West (2nd half of his Celtic career), aka "NASCAR"
9) Brian Scalabrine (Only his first 2 Celtic seasons)
10) Marcus Banks

Interesting tidbit of knowledge:  Awhile back I checked to see if I could sarcastically buy a custom Vin Baker Celtics jersey from NBA.com.  They allow you to make pretty much any custom name/number that match for a previous Celtic, even the ones who played a short while, EXCEPT Vin Baker.

I'd be surprised to see Ray Allen's name.  I can see hating Paul Pierce, because people would hate him on any other team.  I can see people hating KG because of the trash-talking.  I can't see hating Ray Allen unless he had sex with your wife, and even then, half this board would probably feel honored to have contact with a vagina blessed by the touch of Ray Allen.

I hate Sam Cassell for having a funny-looking head.

Mikki Moore was extremely over rated when he was signed here...all we heard from CSN was how good of ashooter he is...the guy sucked plain and simple

Scal is also on my list,   he is as uh, if not more of a mascot than Lucky and sometimes I feel that is the only reason he is still on this team

Rasheed is tops of my list right now, he represents everything that the Celtics are not...

As far as pre-big 3 players...  pretty much any of the Centers we had from 1998 on.... Montross,  Ratliff  ect.

Ricky Davis...  He epitomizes everything that is wrong with basketball.  I stopped watching basketball, and probably started to care less about the game in general, when Danny traded for that tool...

I thought Ricky was ok as a Celtic.  How can anyone dislike Ricky more than Mark Blount. :o

LOL!  yeah, mark blount is "exhibit A" for why professional athletes should only have 1 year contracts.  when that guy had a REASON to play he was pretty decent.  once he got that pile of dough, and bought his life-time supply of bubble gum, he was useless.  he ranks a high 2nd to Ricky...  next to Gin Baker, who solidifies my top 3... :)

Blount and Rasheed.

I cant stand lack of effort and lazy play.

Blount epitomized both and it's well documented.

What is sad is I have always been a big fan of Rasheed. Somehow this year his play has put him in the same category as Blount for me. It has been painful rooting for him. It was a slow process. I was defending him for a while. Too long really.

What makes the Sheed case worse was that he was supposed to put us over the top to contend for a title. We had no such expectations for Blount.

Sheed, you still have some time to get yourself off of this short list of players. Show me something...anything.

The rest of the players discussed in this thread all met my expectations over the years, which werent very high. Cant hate too much as long as the effort is there.
