Also i dont get the Orienne hate.  He was a guy that shouldnt have even made the team.  Its not his fault we were so bad that he had to play.  Thats like hating on brandon wallace or billy walker if they got more PT

And who can forget the "Orien Express" getting busted going 85 mph down Main Street in Waltham?  Probably the highlight of his time here.

which reminds me...Gabe Pruitt anyone?

Wow, I forgot about him already!  He didn't actively suck though, he was just sort of there...

Antoine Walker - in the 2000's Antoine became the unlikable, three point chucking, never play in the post, don't rebound as much, can't jump anymore, I'm going to take any shot I want, whenever I want Antoine, that I despised. As much as I hated Pitino for not properly forcing Antoine to stay fit, for instilling bad habits in him and not leaving some veteran presence around him to guide him, it was Jim O'Brien that was the bane of Antoine's like-abilty factor here in Boston. As much as Pitino started a campfire regarding Toine's detestable on-court behavior, it was O'Brien who drove a petrol truck over the campfire and opened the hose to start the inferno.

Joe Forte - as soon as I found out he wore another teams jersey into the team locker room, that was it, hate him.

Tony Allen - hate his game, Hate it, hate it, hate it. And the Tony love of unlimited potential and future HOF type greatness that was promised and spewed forth on the pages of this website didn't help much either.

Mark Blount turned into such a dog. The guy had talent but just didn't give a crap.

At least Baker, Marbury, Moore, etc gave a crap.

I dont know why everyone hates TA so much...

Sure, he isn't the smartest player and can make a lot of dumb mistakes, but he is a very good defender and tries his hardest. Remember that stretch a few years ago when Pierce got injured and Tony Allen was the player that led us to some wins (averaging 20 ppg), and after he got injured again the C's had that 18 game losing streak. I think he deserves more minutes, even with Finley here.

And also, I loved Marcus Banks when he was on the team. I hated Telfair though.

Example number 1 of why I hate Tony Allen....seeing the 16 game 2007 reference as justification for more playing time. Like fingernails on the chalkboard.

One of my favorite things about the CB forums is that it seems like half the topics posted eventually morph into a multi-page debate between the Pro-TA and Anti-TA crowds. :P

Has there been a more polarizing fringe rotation player ever?

For the record, I am solidly in nickagneta's Anti-TA camp.

It's not often I read something of yours, Nick, and disagree, but your Antoine assessment seems totally offbase. The reason this team had any success between 1994 and 2007 was because of Antoine's play and leadership. People may not have liked his way of playing, but he proved to be quite successful with it.

I don't doubt that it was probably time to break things up when Danny did, but trading a somewhat valuable asset in Antoine for Raef and Jiri is why we fell off so hard. If Danny had simply just traded for an expiring contract or another Dallas forward (Antawn Jamison), things wouldn't have been so bad for so long...that is why Raef leads the way for me- not because of who he is as a person, but because of his hampering contract...but I guess we have a championship now, so apparently everything happens for a reason.

I hated Jim O'Brien and his style of coaching and playing--gimmicky, ugly basketball.

But my least favorite player would have to be Blount - just the way he worked hard until he got his contract and then instantly became a lazy, selfish, whiner!

1.  Mark Blount...'nuff said.

2.  Antoine Walker...wasted talent...chucking up threes when he should have been accomplishing so much more. (He was terrific driving to the basket.) If the blame should be on O'Brien, ok...put it on O'Brien...didn't like him either.

2 1/2.  Rasheed Wallace.  Want to love what he should be doing...playing in the paint and rebounding.  Hate what he tends to do (spend too much time outside, and chucking up threes.  Afraid he is becoming the new Antoine Walker.  Can't understand why he doesn't recognize and use his own strengths.

3.  Glen Davis.  Love his hustle, like his rebounding...hate it when he doesn't realize he is not big enough to take the ball to the rim amid NBA level defenders!  I feel that he is better as a center (using his big body to move people out of the way) and not trying to score so much than he is as a power forward (not quick enough, not enough lift).

4. Vin Baker.  Another player I really wanted to cheer for, but with too many personal weaknesses in the way...

Notice I said Antoine Walker of the 2000's.

Walker before Jim O'Brien was a guy I really liked. But under O'Brien he went from averaging 3.5-4 3 point shots per game to 7.5-8. Walker's rebounds per 36 went from around 9 per 36 with Pitino in the 1990's to about 7-7.5 under Obie in the 2000's. yeah he racked up more assists as a player under Obie but that was because he was constantly playing on the perimeter when he was desperately needed under the basket. By the time he left here Toine's rebounding rate hover around 10.0 or about what it is for your average NBA guard.

I liked Walker in the 90's. I hated Walker in the 2000's.

I know what you are saying and he was much more of a 'Lebron-lite' in the 90s, but their success came in the 00s. I realize some of this has to do with Pierce's progression and the arrival of a real pg in Kenny Anderson, but still, the 90s were hard to swallow. Like I said, I can understand many not liking his style of play, but it was fairly effective (and he was even a first round pick in fantasy bball for a few years there  ;D )

That's an extremely lame reason to hate Tony Allen.  People say stupid things about players all the time.

The large amount of Tony hate always confuses me.  He's proven he can play lock-down defense, bring intensity into the game off the bench, run with Rondo on the break and finish, and provide some offense by taking the ball to the hole.

I am truly sorry that he's been held back by continuous injuries and hasn't reached his full potential.  If he wasn't he could possibly be our 6th man right now.  But i don't think that's a reason to hate him.  Being a Celtic he should have our support.
