Till he shows up, and I don't think he will, Ricky Rubio

Kedrick Brown is the number one bust this past decade for the Celts, hands down. Now he's playing pro ball in Turkey. What a disappointing pick he turned out to be.

I think Rubio will come over; unlike Vazquez, he has NBA skills, and doesn't have to worry about getting exposed in the same way.

Let's hope we don't have a highish draft pick of our own again to screw up on guys like K.Brown, G.Green, or M.Banks.

Imagine those 3 incredible athletes playing together now?

Just goes to show how much it really, really blows to be a .500 team, since the middle of the draft (#10-20) seems to be where the biggest risks are:  not projects to develop, not contributors, for the most part.  Very, very difficult for a .500 team to get better through the draft.

The trade with Phoenix where the Celtics gave up Joe Johnson instead of Brown remains one of the top mistakes.

Give up a future star instead of NDDLer for a one year rental of a shooting, overweight PF.

While I agree that was a dumb trade, I think its a little uncalled for to be poking fun at Rodger's given his current situation...I'm sure you didn't mean it but that just rubbed me the wrong way.

I don't think we should be less sincere with our assessments simply because a decade later, a player got hurt in an accident.  I disagree with wdleehi only to the extent that the description makes it sound like Rogers couldn't play at all.  In fact, he was a serviceable player (just not a star.)

One of the dumber aspects of that trade was that the Celtics wouldn't spend a fairly marginal amount of money to bring Rogers back.  It still wouldn't have made it a good trade, but at least having Rogers re-up would have been some salve on the wound.

I didn't mind the trade in the season or even in retrospect.

What I did mind was the lack of the GM to evaluate that Joe Johnson would become a better player than Kendrick Brown.

The not resigning of Rodney Rogers was bad, but the Vin Baker deal that the team then made instead was insane.

Actually, not resigning Rogers was the best GM move.  I believe he went to NJ where he showed up out of shape and over weight (which led me to the description of "one year rental of a shooting, overweight PF."  I don't believe he ever did anything else in the NBA of meaning.

I remember him being a decent role player the next year, I could be wrong about that though.

Still if the alternative is signing Rodgers or making the Vin Baker trade I know which move I'd prefer. None of the above was definitely the best option though.
