Moon Knight, episode 1.

Well, I'll copy paste my tweet cuz it kinda surmises it well enough;

Quote
"Another Marvel series."

+ Oscar is awesome
+ Refreshing main character
- Same slow pace again
- Doesn't push its premise far enough
- Same ol' boring Marvel cinematography

5/10

I got too excited for this one, hope it picks up in ep 2!

Tough crowd, haha.  I do wish that they'd release their series like Netflix does.  The one per week format puts too much pressure on the season to start with a bang.

I liked the premiere.  The only thing that rubbed me a bit wrong was the "internal voice", which reminded me too much of Venom with Eddie Brock.

There was some show recently (I forget which one) that released its first 3 episodes on the first day in order to let you the viewer get into the series. Then moved to 1 per week.

I liked that model. It worked well.

They thought you needed 3 episodes to get to know the characters and plot, to get into the series. Oh maybe it "The Wheel of Time"; a fantasy series.

Saw the newest Cheaper by the Dozen reboot the other day and have to say, what a utter piece of garbage that was. I am surprised that Zack Braff, who I thought was selective and more into his own art like the Robert Pattinson would get into this movie. All the actors besides him and the wife were horrible. Not bad, but absolute horrible.

The premises was weak and they tried to include as many progressive points as they could, with an interracial family and handicap daughter, and all that. The problem is that they don't give any context or provide any real insight into some of these extremely tough subjects. It's like they are just checking off all these boxes on subjects like police brutality and moving on.

My kids weren't into it. My wife was bored and we just powered through just to finish the movie. This week's family movie night is Sing 2 and hopefully that will be better.

The Sean Payton movie on Netflix wasn't bad.  Kevin James plays him the year he was suspended and he coached his kids peewee football team.

Randomly watched Margin Call for the third or fourth time last week. I feel like it's better each time and I pick up on little details in the writing and acting that are executed so perfectly.

Started watching the series about Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos this week, The Dropout. It's really good but I didn't realize that it hadn't completely aired yet so I have to wait a week for the final episode to drop.

Another recent watch was the disturbing film, Life of Crime, on HBO:
"Life of Crime: 1984-2020, is the culmination of 36 years of work from multiple Emmy Award-winning producer/director Jon Alpert (HBO’s “Baghdad ER”). The third and final part of an epic documentary trilogy tells the full story of three friends from Newark, New Jersey whose lives have been defined by and torn apart by their addictions.

With unfettered access, the film bears witness to each of their journeys in and out of prison, rehab, and in occasional jobs as they struggle to end the vicious cycles of drug use and to connect with the families they left behind."

That looks like one of those mindless movies but I figured I will eventually get to while folding clothes but now that might be sooner than later.

I just saw The Batman..I give it a 7 out of 10..very dark looking film, needed more light..it’s more of a detective movie than an superhero movie…Robert P. did a very good Batman but not a good Bruce Wayne if that makes sense…Zoe Kravitz was more of Batman sidekick than villian..

I was really disappointed in Kravitz's performance. Catwoman is one of the best comic book characters ever. So mischievous, cocky, manipulative, and yet so full of heart. Kravitz showed little of any of that. Very wooden. Which is a shame because she looks the part, almost uncannily so.

Oh, and her mask was pretty lame too.

I finally got around to seeing this.  Overall I enjoyed it, but I thought pretty much every Catwoman scene was cringeworthy.  You're right about "the look", but Kravitz was really bad in this.  It was too the point where I wondered why the director didn't just give up and hire a new actress; at some point they've got to know a character is dragging the movie down, right?  In fact, I think if somebody went in and edited out all of the Kravitz scenes, it would would be a better movie, even if some plot holes wouldn't have made a lot of sense.

I didn't think the grand finale at "GSG" made a lot of sense, either.  But overall, it was solid.  I look forward to the sequel, so long as they leave Catwoman out.  (I know that Pfeiffer had an iconic performance, but why have the past three versions of Cat Woman sucked?  Berre, Hathaway and Kravitz.)

Wife and I went to see Father Stu. She said it looked funny. I has to be one of the worst 5 movies I have ever seen. We left about 20 minutes before it ended. Wahlberg your better than that crap.

"GreyHound" released on Apple+tv.

Tom Hanks is the lead captain of three escort warships whose job it is to protect cargo and troop ships crossing the Atlantic in the early days of WW2 before we unlocked Enigma and destroyed the bulk of the German U-Boat threat. There are some insights into Tom Hanks' character, Captain Krause, but little else in the way of character development.

This is essentially an action-combat film that follows one supply convoy crossing from the U.S. to Europe and shows the unsophisticated radar tools that the Allies used then to defend against hidden U-Boat "wolfpacks" while traveling in "The Pit" in the middle of the Atlantic where air cover was unavailable. From that perspective, it is a very interesting look at one part of WW2 and how the Allies fought as naval underdogs at that point in the war. My father landed in Cherbourg one week after D-Day in 1944.

I too just got to see The Batman. I'd give it 8 out of 10 as far as superhero movies go.

 Three pluses
-I enjoyed detective Batman. Want to see a very smart Batman making a impact. He would fit a DCU better than the recent Batmen.

-Liked the Riddler. He is one of the few mastermind villains that could challenge Batman.

-Liked Gotham. Felt like a real city with troubles but strong people.

Three negatives
-Batman fight style. He seemed to want to punish himself as much as others. I didn't really get where that was coming from.

-Agreed with others that Catwoman probably could have been cut out. Why they always insist on a love interest can be annoying sometimes. She looked great besides the terrible mask and her fighting was good yet the daddy issues was a very bad choice.

-Penguin should have been more menacing and a bigger player working angles. He just felt like a generic mob lieutenant who could have been anyone. If they had merged Falcone and Penguin together it would have created a better secondary villain be it Falcone or Penguin who was the chosen guy.

I watched Jackie Brown for the first time a couple nights ago, and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. It very well be my new favorite Tarantino film. How I went so many years without seeing it baffles me.

I agree with quite a bit of this. It might be the best Gotham in all of the movies. Penguin and Catwoman almost seemed thrown in for the sake of it.

Overall there wasn't much to dislike, however I can't see myself re-watching the film either. There weren't any performances, plots or scenes that make me want to revisit, at least not after a recent watch.

It felt very monotone to me. A little dull. I would rather have seen Ben Affleck’s originally  planned movie. Still hoping with new boss in at WB Discovery it will happen.

Saw the new Batman. Would give it a B-. Pattinson wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t good either. Kravitz was bad as Cat Woman. Riddler character was solid, Alfred character was not. Overall, not a bad one time view, but I wouldn’t watch it again.

I watched The Northman tonight.  It was okay, but not nearly as good as reviews suggest.   I think I would have appreciated it more as a 6 or 8 episode series where they could really flesh things out.
