Rashard Lewis was pointed to by Stan Van Gundy to report to the scorer's table because he was going into last night's game. But Lewis refused to go in. Strange thing is this happened in the second quarter. Apparently, Lewis got two quick fouls and Ryan Anderson, his replacement, was going off for 14 points in about a 12 minute span, so in an unselfish gesture, according to Lewis, he refused his coach's instruction to get into the game.

Gilbert Arenas is openly campaigning for an All-Star start and has opened up an internet site dedicated to get him more votes for the Eastern Conference team. It's name. voteforgilbertordie.com. You just can't make this stuff up.

The Portland Trailblazers are in such bad injury shape that their coach, Nate McMillan decided to get on the court and run with the boys because the Blazers only have 9 healthy players and couldn't practice without another player. So what happens? While fighting through a pick, McMillan injures himself so bad that he ruptured his Achille's tendon, required surgery and we be lost to the team for the foreseeable future as the pain while trying to stand is excruciating. Wonder if Nate is going to be put on injury reserved?

New Jersey Nets' rookie Terrance Williams recently tweeted what life would be like had he not been drafted by the Nets and then made a strange reference to playing a lot more in practice than games. In what Williams says is unrelated news, Williams was seen doing laps up and down the stairs and seats in the upper balcony of the United Center with a Nets assistant coach. Sure, Terrance, just a coincidence and not punishment. Yeah, we believe that.

Corey Maggette is confused over his reputation as a selfish ballplayer. Of course his career stat of 11 FGA per game and 2.2 assists per game and his current ranking of 93rd in the league in assists per 48 minutes right behind fellow unselfish ballplayer, O.J. Mayo, is just a coincidence. ::)

Arenas is an overrated moron, he's a big and sometimes likeable Allen Iverson #2.  Maybe it will change, but so far in his career Arenas has been a talented loser and a legend in his own mind.

Biggest joke of the day remains that T-mac is well entrenched in the west's all star starting lineup, and that perk is the 10th fan voted center, behind sheed and a ton of other teams scrubs (such as bags in Toronto).

The NBA all star voting process, where players who never step foot on the court get all star nods. what a joke.

The Rockets have voted him off the Rockets but the fans have him starting the allstar game.  Yeah thats crazy.  And Sheed ahead of Perk is also nuts.
Maybe the players the fans vote in should be guaranteed a spot on the bench instead of the starting lineup.  That way if someone doesn't deserve it, he really doesn't have to play.

I'm just thankful Yao's not on the ballot or he'd be starting too.  And at least Yi's not making a run this year.

Picking the All-Star starters is explicitly a popularity contest and always has been.  It's not an award for any achievement other than having enough people like you to vote you in.  The real issue is why the NBA put him on the ballot knowing he wouldn't be playing anytime soon.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I wish there was a place I could lobby for Caron Butler to be traded. He could be the starting 3 for a chip team, but he's suffocating under Gilbert's ego.

Yeah, did you notice how much dribbling Gilbert was doing last night and would waste away about 3/4 of the shot clock before doing anything?  Terrible.

Didn't Gilbert call out Butler a couple of weeks back?  It's funny, I see Jamison as the ulimate competitor (did you see him injure that shoulder and keep on playing) and Butler could be placed in that category as well (works hard on both sides of the floor), meanwhile I see Arenas as a prima donna.  I think the way that Washington tanked last season has played a role in the slow start this season.  When you start losing, it creates an environment that I think they are still trying to shake off.
Baby Jesus!

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy wanted Rashard Lewis to go back into their game last night against Utah in the second quarter, but Lewis refused. Van Gundy was not happy during his postgame interview.

"Lewis didn't want to go back in. I wanted to put him back in with six minutes to go in the second quarter and he didn't want to go back in," Van Gundy told the Orlando Sentinel. "He said it was because he had two fouls, and so if you have a guy who doesn't want to play, I'm not going to get in an argument and put him back in if he doesn't want to play at that time."

Lewis says he wasn't trying to be defiant, but it sounded like that. Lewis says he has no issues with Van Gundy.

"Van Gundy wasn't p---ed at the time," said Lewis of declining to report in at Van Gundy's request. "But he was p---ed when they started making a run. You got to point the finger at something if that's what you got to point it at. Hey, I don't give a [dang]."

Wow!  That's not good for a team wanting to win.
