Tommy frequently says something similar- knock the guy down and step on his chest!

If Larry was a 3, then I'll go with Timmy followed by Mchale.  I'm not sure if Mchale was the main man on a team that he would demand and inspire greatness in the other players like Larry and Timmy.

I'm right there with you.  If you put McHale next to Stockton in Utah, I think he would have eclipsed Malone's numbers.  I have him virtually tied with Duncan, and a half-step ahead of Malone and Barkley, among others.

This is exactly what I miss about the 80's.

I like McHale's style.

I am guessing he was the big man with less fouls.. ;D
Edgar, I think this was more a case of Kevin saying, "I'll be [dang]ed if Larry is going to tell me I played like a woman again."

If Duncan enters the conversation it's probably him. But McHale was easily the most enjoyable to watch playing.

Add me to that list. I agree Kevin McHale was the best Powerforward to ever live, IMO.

There was actually a discussion on the Celtics.com play-by-play last night of who would win in a Kevin Mchale VS Kevin Garnett contest. IMO, take both of these two in their primes and Mchale would foul KG out probably by the end of the third quarter. Kevin McHale just had too many crafty lowpost moves.

And that's no disrespect to KG. Tim Duncan's great, too, but even he didn't have the array of lowpost moves like McHale.

And McHale was a heck of a defender as well. I saw him block dunks and everything while he played. He just had freakishly long arms.

I've heard Charles Barkley say that Kevin was the PF he had the most trouble with.

Will never happen in today's NBA. The pussification of the game of basketball by David Sterns is without a doubt the worse thing he ever did as commissioner.
I think the Knicks/Heat style took it to far though. Just bad and ugly basketball when they were hacking away.

I used to love that stuff. Knicks basketball was how I grew up watching ball, since Celtics games were rarely on.

people always reminiscent about the past rivalries and how we don't have them today. that's the reason right there. the game is too soft.

Become Legendary.

If Rondo was on the mid-80 Celts those overly hard picks by players like Dwight Howard would be a thing of the past and he'd take a lot less abuse driving to the bucket.

Scalabrine. Do you want to be a Celtic hero, forever? If so, we got a job for you!!!
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.
