With Portland injury troubles Hollinger speculates that Travis Outlaw may be available as bait to fill in some roster spots. Celtics may be able to put together a 2 for 1 deal for outlaw given our depth and our need for a legit 6-8 wing player. BBD or Shelden may not be ideal replacements for Oden; but with TA, or Scals could work out (whatever makes the numbers work). Outlaw is expected back by March from a broken foot.

Outlaw is in his final year. I don't see how this trade helps unless Danny knows 100% Outlaw would resign with the Celtics.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I'd do it if Outlaw could come back before March.  Not too comfortable with giving him 1 month to learn our system before the playoffs though.  Davis and TA for Outlaw and Juwan Howard worked on trade checker.

We could probably get Martell Webster from them, but I don't think I'd want him.

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari

Outlaw is hurt and likely out for a long while. I don't see us making a trade that would involve healthy contributing players.

Good points all. Know he is not the most consistent player; but has given the C's trouble last few times he has played them. Share many of the concerns above; and did not realize he was in his last year (TP).

I don't think Webster will be available.  He's been starting with Batum and Outlaw hurt.
do it

Why not?  Good defender, very athletic, shoots 36% from 3 this year - not great, but acceptable and actually a bit off of his career percentage.  Still only 23.  I'd rather have him than Outlaw - unfortunately, Portland likely feels the same way.

Outlaw is the more dynamic player, but since he's out indefinitely as is Batum they're not likely to trade either. They'd happily shed a PG for a PF who can shoot like Baby, but I don't have interest in Blake, Bayless can't pass and Miller requires too many minutes. None are a great fit -- I'd rather keep Glen.

If Outlaw were healthy, it'd be tempting.

I wonder what his value will be after an injured season. I would love to sign him next summer to back up the paul and play some small 4. his length, shooting and youth would be SO valuable to this team going forward.

would he take MLE?

i would do it if he was healthy.

but i would not take the risk of trading for an injured player. i also don't believe he will resign for cheap.

much rather go after gerald wallace or Nocione
