All of them have brought long-awaited championships to the fans of their respective teams. All would seem to have an enormous amount of job security. This probably isn't as much about who would be fired first as who would be the first to leave by choice. Here are the top factors in my mind that will affect each coach:

Terry Francona
- Health
- Because of the nature of MLB, very unlikely that the Sox will be anything but a contender for years to come

Doc Rivers
- Family
- Easy Transition to Broadcasting
- End of an era for the Celtics coming soon

Bill Belichick
- One of the great coaches of all-time, making him the least likely to be fired
- Could he want to take a year or two off soon, followed by a change of scenery?
- Probably not, because he's not human like other NFL coaches, and therefore doesn't gets tired, and will probably stay even longer than Brady does just to prove that he can win without Brady.

Bill for sure ... his will be the first head to roll for this performance ... unless, of course, they pull out a miracle.

I'm leaning towards Francona.  Between his health concerns and the pressure of being a Red Sox manager, I think he could be the first one to go.

Rivers could go if this team falls apart quickly but I still think they have a few years of competitiveness left in them.

Out of the three, I think Belichick will be the one left standing (if he wants to be) when all is said and done.  Football is his life (evidenced by his more than 30 years in the NFL).  It seems like he genuinely enjoys it and one or two lackluster seasons isn't going to do him in.

I think its a tough call between Doc and Francona.  I think both will be gone within 2-3 years.  Francona because his health forces him out, and Doc because he wants to spend more time with his kids.  I think Belichick will be around for at least another 4-5 years.

They still control there own destiny in the division, and are assured a home game if they get in.

I really don't think a non-superbowl winning season (which is a lock this year) will be the thing that makes kraft fire one of the best coaches in the game if allegations of cheating and suspension once those rumors were proven true didn't do it.

I think it's francona or Doc, and i'm leaning towards doc in two years or so when this run is over.

Belichick is too great of a coach to call it quits anytime soon.

I could see Doc stepping down in a few more years when the run is over. He has always said he'd like to spend more time with his kids.

If the Sox don't play well next year I could see Francona getting the blame. If they are successful then he really has no reason to leave.

Claude Julien. ;)

I'll say Francona, though.

Yeah, sorry Bruins fans. I just figured this wouldn't be much of a discussion if I included Julien.

Well, I think Julien may be around the longest.  The Bruins are set up to be good for a long time, and Julien does not have reason to leave on his own like the others do.

Just curious but to the people who voted to Belichick:

Do you really believe that he'll get fired in the near future or just step down?

Yeah, I'm curious about this too...because I don't think there is any chance he gets fired.

Wow - that's surprising to me that Bill has the most votes. To me he's the least likely to leave, but it wouldn't surprise me if people are in fact overreacting to the Pats' current rough patch and picking Bill because they think he could/should be canned.

I went with Bill for a few reasons.

1. I think he's a victim of his own success. We've been spoiled so bad by him that we're in no mood to put up with mediocrity.

2. If you're going to be mediocre can you please admit it? Can you just admit you made mistakes? Cmon. Be a man. Admit it. My 2 year old says "sorry" sometimes. It's not that hard. But if you're going to keep losing and acting like am an idiot for asking why then please just leave.

3. He's kinda a weirdo anyway. Look what he did with the Jets. He waffles at times and has some major social anxieties. I'm not sure he can handle when things go bad.

4. Kraft is no wimp. He's dealt with personalities and whatnot before from the Tuna to Pete Carroll to Belichek to Pioli.  I think Kraft has enough cajones to think that he is the one that sets the culture here, and not BB.

5. Kraft is an actual fan. He pays a lot of money and wants to win.

6. It's been a good run. Some guys like to move on at some point anyway.

7. Something weird could happen. Remember when coach Jags of BC was announced as a candidate at the Jets and BC told him if he interviewed he'd be fired and he did it anyway? Is it such a stretch to see the Raiders or something trying to fly him in and give him a huge offer? Or the Chiefs? Is it such a stretch to seem him take it?

By contrast I don't think Doc has a lot going on and Francona seems to like what he's doing and well liked even in not great years.

There's a number of things I don't agree with in your post.

You use the word "we". The thing is, "we", the fans, don't impact Bill's fate. The man who does, Robert Kraft, is much more patient than us, and won't overreact to a down year.

Besides, the Patriots are still less than 2 years removed from the only 16-0 season in league history! Last year, they went 11-5 with their backup quarterback playing the entire year. Furthermore, this season isn't even over yet.

I'm not clear on what you'd like him to do. Hold a press conference tomorrow and announce to the world that his team is mediocre? I bet that would go over well in New England. A big part of what makes Bill so good (what makes NE fans love him and everyone else hate him) is that he is so strong-willed and stubborn. But when you take a look at what it means to say you made a mistake in football, Bill is actually pretty good at it. He's never been afraid cut his mistakes loose even if it makes him look bad.

Ok. So how much longer do you think this mediocrity can last?  We just saw a near rookie QB beat the Pats and the week before the Saints basically took their manhood, p---ed on it, picked it up, spit on it, turned around and said "I think this may be yours".

How long do you think Kraft will be ok with that and when do you suppose the winning will start again?
