The sooner I get that half hour of my life back, the happier I'm going to be.

That was disgusting, I'm (as I expected) thoroughly unimpressed with Donaghy.

What did he say?

Nothing we didn't already know.  However, I still believe him in spite of the fact that he is a scumbag.

And I think you're being kind, Steve ... TP for your restraint ... I didn't comment in the way I wished to, (for obvious reasons).

I didn't watch, I can't imagine I missed anything worth seeing based on what others have said.

personally i was unaware that in their study of tapes of his games, the fbi ruled that his officiating did not affect the outcome of games he bet on.

let's say this is in fact the case. if he could pick winners with 80% success just by knowing who was officiating which players, and without putting his own 'stamp' on the course of the games himself, it says something pretty scary about nba officiating, doesn't it?

He didn't say much.  The questions were mostly softballs.  There was no discussion of differential treatment of stars, and no other NBA names came up, e.g. which refs have it in for certain teams and certain players.

I certainly hope the FBI is interviewing the gambler who alleges that 13 other NBA officials are on the take.

He did talk about AI getting hated on and I have a good video to prove it. Special bonus for Salvatore being involved: I have contended that this guy holds ridiculous grudges for the past 2-3 years.

The 25 play compilation that the league sent out of fouls Kobe should've gotten doesn't surprise me either. Still thought the interview was decent.

I'm with you to a point, Professor.  Donaghy may be unimpressive.  But what makes what he's putting forth credible and plausible is the disgusting officiating product on the floor.  The NBA is a microcosm of society.  When laws are applied certain ways to certain people corruption comes easy.  Donaghy wasn't by a long shot the NBA's worst referee when he got caught...And he was handily getting away with this for years.  How does a fan tell when the fan can see a star flagrantly traveling and the official ignores it?  How does he tell who's crooked and who isn't?

Stern is a brilliant commissioner.  When the Philly-Detroit brawl went down, Stern reacted by implementing a dress code to improve the league's image to it's main demographic.

So far there is no such mandate to clean up the officiating.  Until the fans stop filling the stands, Stern could appoint guest referees like the WWE does.  Shawn Michaels could ignore the messiah's no-dribble "drives" from half court...Or  ;D Turkododo's flopping...Or Pierce's traveling, or Wade's carrying....Michaels performs in the world of make believe.  Bennett Salvatore doesn't.  Or at least he's not supposed to...

Hopefully Donaghy's book has some real substance.  Maybe Stern will be mandated to the Mendy Rudolph days....When a travel was a travel and a foul was a foul whether it was Kareem Abdul Jabbar or Henry Finkel.

Until fans stop going, nothing changes.

That ref acted like a child with parents who just don't care what he does. Simple as that.. Thanks for posting that vid, I hadn't seen it before. As a closet Iverson fan (My sister gave me an AI jersey when I was younger, since then I've been a fan) I can see why some refs don't like him, but he wasn't doing anything terrible here.

It's really a sad state, when a ref can punish a player or a coach just for speaking their minds like Larry Brown did. I mean, he wasn't being extremely personal and calling out the ref on personal stuff or anything..
