I don't even see it in 50 years so I must even be more sexist.

I hate LeBron but honestly, in this case, I can't say as I disagree with him. $0-50 years from now....maybe. Ten years from now. No way. Won't happen.

That's a strange comment to me Nick.  What is going to happen to women 40-50 years from now that couldn't happen in 10 years.   Are you expecting some form of superwoman emerging then that couldn't exist now.  It seems just as likely that a 10 year old right now might have that extraordinary mix of skill, strength and coaching as it would be that such a female will be born 30 years from now.
No...but I never say never when it comes to changes in skill, society, technology or even evolution. Asked someone 60 years ago if women would have their own professional basketball league which millions of people would follow on television and people would have laughed at you.

Thing is, two WNBA teams have had to fold in the Rockets and Monarchs that have won WNBA Championships. THAT bothers me, cause two other WNBA teams have folded but they didn't do much. Are millions of people really going to these games?
Do people actually read anymore?

Do people what what?
Exactly

Wow, talk about a hater thread. You make it sound like he injected himself into this topic when he was simply asked a question by the media. On top of that he gives a pretty reasonable answer and goes on to praise the WNBA. Hater Thread!

Not sure where this hate is coming from but it is ridiculous.

He's probably afraid of getting Posterized by one..lol. Man i'd love to see that happen.

There are some good ones out there in college right now..one lady is like 6'8" from Baylor I believe. Can't remember her name. She nearly had a triple double a week or so ago...

There've been 6'1 women playing ball in college for years and years, but none of them have made a serious run at a roster. It's not happening for (at minimum) a long time.

Where is the problem with his comment?  Nowitzki just said that a female could't play in the league because of the physicality.  Why no anti Dirk threads?

The only way I see a woman playing in the league in the near future is if some team with low attendance does it as a publicity stunt.  Right now, even the most dominant women in their respective sports would struggle against the top men, whether the sport be basketball, tennis, golf, etc.  There may be advances in genetics, weight-training, nutrition, etc., that make it more likely for a woman to compete in the future, although I don't think it's terribly likely.

By the way, as an aside a woman has already signed an NBA contract.  In 1980, Ann Meyers signed a contract with the Pacers and tried out for the team, but was ultimately cut.

I heard LeBron hates puppies and doesn't recycle.

LeBron comes over unannounced and eats all my Popsicles.  Then he reads the riddle on the stick and yells out the answer before I even have a chance to guess!  I got him back though, I stuck all my red socks in with the team laundry before yesterday's game   ;)

Right now, even the most dominant women in their respective sports would struggle against the top men, whether the sport be basketball, tennis, golf, etc.  See highlights (such that they are)

But in auto racing and horse racing women have crossed the barrier and have shown they can compete and win.  Skill-based sports seem possible for female breakthroughs soon. I think golf will have a woman competing (top 50 anyway) in the next ten years.  Why not a woman baseball player -- a DH perhaps?  -- Why can't a woman knock out base hits as well as a man? What about football? -- How about a highly accurate female kicker who can hit 45 yard field goals consistently?  Bowling, archery, riflery, darts, pool, etc. it seems should have women in the mix eventually (if not already).

Games (like basketball) and positions that are dependent upon power and strength are obviously going to be harder.

The one I don't get is why women are so far behind in endurance running.  I am aware that they have closed the gap dramatically in the last decade or 2, but it seems that some pretty small men are capable of world class marathon running and it would seem that there would be women who could match them physically.  Yet, the best women finish 15 minutes behind the best men (about 30 seconds per minutes).  That's seems like a big gap.

In horse-racing and auto racing, the rider / driver is relying on something else to do the work for them.  Reactions / reflexes are hugely important, but athletic prowess in terms of strength, athleticism, etc., don't matter all that much.

Women at the present time simply don't have the physical ability to break into the top 1% of male athletic accomplishments.  Women can do great things that would absolutely smoke the average male, but in terms of best of the best, I think men will ultimately win out in any endeavor that favors strength and physicality.

I heard LeBron hates puppies and doesn't recycle.

And yesterday he yelled "CHOSEN ONE!" and kicked my dog square in the face.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.
