I really could care less about the top part of the list.  Kobe or Lebron or DWade could be argued forever.  I'm more interested in the large amount of Laker love on this list.  I feel as if Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum are on this list just because they are Lakers.  Al Jefferson, Kevin Martin and Gerald Wallace all left off the list?  Odom I suppose I can kind of understand, but Bynum has no business being on the list.

Can't really have a more diverse panel.  I'd actually have Bynum quite a bit higher.  McGrady shouldn't be that high.  Baron Davis should be far lower.  OJ Mayo and Richard Jefferson over Big Al and Marc Gasol?  Hmmmm.

Kevin Durant at #21?  Are you serious?  Granted, he hasn't won anything, but look at the team he's had since being on the league.  This kid has been an absolute monster seen day 1 in the league and he needs to be at least on the Top 10.

His first year in the league he was pretty awful.

Since his second year and move to the SF position full time though he's been a beast.

But this is the best players in the NBA currently, I take that to mean as they are now.  Not how they were in the past.

He's still a bad defensive player. You can't really climb to top 10 being one-dimensional.

But look at the list, a lot of it is clearly based on past reputation.

And future reputation with Mayo.  I mean, you could make a strong case that Perk is much better than Mayo.

Perk is better than at least 10 players on that list.  Charlie Villanueva on the top 50 list?  Give me a break.

Players I think are way too high if this is based on their current games:
7) Kevin Garnett
16) Shaquille O'Neal
22) Manu Ginobelli
23) Jason Kidd
24) Tracy McGrady
29) Ron Artest
32) Baron Davis
45) Elton Brand
46) Richard Jefferson
49) Michael Redd
50) Andrew Bynum

Players I think are way too low if this is based on their current game:

17) Pau Gasol
21) Kevin Durant
25) Joe Johnson
31) Danny Granger
47) OJ Mayo

Players who I can't understand why they aren't on the list:

Gerald Wallace
Stephen Jackson
Kevin Martin
Monta Ellis
Antawn Jamison

Bynum is averaging 18/10 and almost 2 blocks a game, thats not the 50th best player?

He's also a god awful defensive player

I don't think he's awful, though he's certainly no defensive stalwart.

that aisde, why would that keep him out of the top 50 when guys like Charlie V are on there?

Bynum belongs on that list, higher up on it in my opinion. The rest of your picks i pretty much agree with, TP :)

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Joe Johnson at 25 is just plain dumb.

Shaq at 16 is stupid, it's not five years ago.

Kevin Durant should be in the top ten, I wonder when people are finally going to notice how serious of a player he is.

Ginobili needs to drop down a lot, he might be the most overrated player in the NBA, and injuries have to be taken into consideration, they clearly did for Tracy McGrady.

There are a few players that do not belong on this list, Battier, Bynum, Villanueva etc.

Gerald Wallace is on the list, look at everything he does on a given night.
