Andrei Kirilenko is a pretty notorious flopper. Some really shameful ones out there on Youtube

Baron Davis is another one:

lol... those are ridiculous

Kirilenko is definitely added to the list. Baron Davis... I think I need to see more, no doubt that was a ridiculous flop, but I don't think 1 flop warrants the title "flopper".

TP for the additions!

lol

Notice Van Gundy at the end saying referees need to study these floppers so they stop getting these calls. He's definitely one of the best national commentators for any sport.

Does the "Reggie Miller Someone Was Within 5 Feet of Me as I Missed a Jumper So I'll Fall Down" flop count?

I don't think I would consider Reggie a flopper. I can be overruled though...

Reggie wasn't a flopper per se, he was a "stick my off leg out as far as I can on jumpers, and if anyone comes close to touching it I'll flail around in a circle and hit the deck like I've been shot"-er.  He also chases married women  ;D.

precisely what I was referring to.  It drove me nuts, especially during those playoff series with the C's.
Looking for a Sig designer....obviously i will be greatful with tps.

Looking for a Wire - Rondo theme....PM with ideas and I'll tp

NBA floppers don't really bother me (except for Lebron, just because I think Flopping actually hurts him, since he is strong enough to just make any layup if he is not flopping), because they are simply working within the rules to do whatever they can to win.

What bothers me is that the league allows it happen, and be rewarded.

I understand this is homer town, but Rondo flops on a regular basis, and Pierce on occasion. I don't think we should throw stones if we live in a glass house - at least not excessively  ::)

I have no problem with putting Celtics players on this list. You can all name players and give me proof via youtube, or the majority of people agreeing with your point and anybody can be added from any team.

Pierce is a flailer like Ginobili (not nearly as over-the-top or frequent though) not a flopper like Varejao.  Well, Ginobili flops too, I guess I mean when he yells, jerks his head and flails his arms around a bit on contact.  Pierce is a top 10er leaguewide on those moves.

I think there is a big difference between taking charges and flopping. I wouldn't say that Pierce "flops" much when he is taking charges. Maybe on offense or maybe rarely if a big guy is posting him up but it is pretty few and far between. He actually bodies people up with the best of them in the league. Flopping to me, are the obvious ones when you know the guy isn't being knocked down but more jumping back/falling down on his own. Just cause you take charges does not label you as a flopper. Even Posey wasn't a real "flopper". He was smart at taking charges, getting in good position early but I think he would usually take a decent amount of contact. I could be wrong but I don't think opposing fans ever labeled him  as a "flopper" like they do to other people. Now Leon Powe was a pretty good flopper. Thats how he could play defense against Dwight Howard. In an interview in SI (i think) he was talking about how Howard hated playing against him cause he would always bait him in and take the charge (flop).

For the most part I've become resigned to flopping these days and can consider them amusing instead of exasperating like I did before. What I do find egregious is the refs falling for flops where players react like they've been clobbered after minimal contact with guys much smaller than them.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Exactly why I don't consider Pierce a flopper.

There are guys who are really good drawing charges: Bogut, Ginobili, Bell, Jarron Collins, Nash, Harris when he cared about defence... I don't think these guys are floppers at all. If you are in good position to draw the offensive foul, it's difficult to keep balance and not fall; plus, it makes easier for the referees to see the charge.

Varejao is a bit of a flopper, as in he exaggerates contact frequently, but he also plays good defence and draws legit charges by sacrificing his body a lot (in the D. Fisher/R. Horry way). To me the biggest flopper in the NBA these days is Chris Paul. I'm surprised he isn't on the list. I'd also nominate Reggie Evans.

Bill Laimbeer ´was probably the greatest flopper of all times. Divac was very histrionic, almost artistic, but he wouldn't flop as much as Laimbeer. Rodman was another notable flopper from the 80s, only second to Laimbeer, IMO. Karl Malone also had a good flop among his formidable collection of cheap tricks.

Watching old games, the flopper who has impressed me more was a Celtics player, Frank Ramsey (in all fairness, I never cared to find film from games without the Celtics playing, maybe there were more impressive guys). I always found the famous anti-flopping instructional video from Red Auerbach quite cynical when he was on the bench seeing Ramsey falling left and right pretty much every time he was touched by an opponent.

Yup, Pierce takes real contact he just exaggerates it. It's only a problem when he lose control of the ball trying to really sell it. In games against the top teams, especially on the road, they stop calling them in the 4th even though they did in the first 3qtrs. Then the little flails do more bad than good, those are when he gets the bad turnovers.
