In most of the threads the popular consensus is that only Pierce is living up to his ability so far this year. I can't believe the Perk fanclub hasn't jumped all over this.

He is scoring nearly 3 ppg more than his career average and is in the top five in the league in fg%. He is showing veteran efficiency at a pivotal position at the young age of 25.
Before Doc or Danny were calling out this team in the media Perk was.

His improvement offensively can't be contributed completely to weight loss. He simply just continues to mature as a player. He is the one player that seems to consistently works harder than anyone else to improve himself in the offseason.
Its exciting to know that post Big Three, we have more to look forward to than just Rondo.

I'm disappointed that Perkins isn't playing more minutes (only 26.8mpg). I think that's a big reason why his strong play is somewhat under the radar.

Longtime Perk fan - he plays within his strengths, just does what we need him to do, and he's getting better every year. He's cut down on the silly fouls and protects the ball much better now than just a couple years ago. He's the unsung hero of the team. I like that Doc has set out to make him a bigger part of the offense this year too.

Perk should definitely get more than 26 mpg, as long as he doesn't get into foul trouble.

I agree with this. Perk's been great this season but he should be playing that way for 10 more minutes a game. He needs to keep the fouls down. You can play fantastic for 15 minutes but it's still only 15 minutes of a 48 min game. If Perk can stay on the floor for at least 30 min (or even 35) his numbers and his impact will increase. He can definitely be an all star but at 26 min a game theres only so much you can do. Bynum is playing 36.6 min a game right now. But then again maybe that's why Bynum is always injured and Perk isn't.

Perk plays within his strengths, but lately he has been expanding his strengths. The game seems to have slowed down to him that he knows what to do with the ball offensively. If he has to make a move on the low post, he'll do it. If he has to slow down the ball and wait for the next move (whether passing to a cutting player, or passing and making another move to the basket and get an easy lay up). He has just grown a lot and I think he can be placed as a long time veteran along with the likes of Pierce and Walker beforehand.

Perks game flows under the radar in general, whether hes getting big minutes or not. I think when people say that Pierce is the only one living up to his abilities ( I am not one of those people) theyre referring mainly to the Big 3 and also the spotlight on Rondo and Sheed since we've invested a lot of money in them over next few years.

Pierce has lived up to his abilities this year but to single him out as the only one on the team is inaccurate. Sheldon Williams has exceeded expectations and Marquis is giving us just about what everyone thought he would.....and of course Perk

I think everyone on this blog would agree that Perk has played up to his abilities this year and he continues to improve. What a steal of a center for what was it? the 27th pick? TPs to everyone for showin Perk some love!

I have become a HUGE Perk fan recently. Mostly for the fact that besides Pierce he's the most consistent of all the C's.

He really does play to his strengths. He makes shots he's supposed to make and usually doesn't take shots he's not supposed to. And he always...ALWAYS brings teh d.

Perk is the most pleasant surprise for me this year ... I was seriously ready to trade him two summers ago, then last year he improved, and though I still had reservations, I no longer wanted to cut him loose ... but this year he's like a new man - losing weight, in better shape, moving faster, running the floor, quicker feet, not showing the ball to the defense or putting it on the floor before laying up, blocking shots like crazy - he's becoming a monster center and we would be very foolish to let him go. Like I said, I was ready to toss him two years ago, but now I just plain love the guy!

Perk is my 2nd fave C next to PP. With his tenacious defense and improving offense i think easily in the atop 5 centers-in the east at least.

And i agree, kg and sheed should not be playing more than perk esp in the reg season, at least if Perk isnt in foul trouble.

I reemmber when we resigned him I was saying "well if perkins is worth 5 million then...(something about how everyone else is underpaid)

He's looking at 10 million a year minimum now, and he's only a year away, right? maybe 2?

That would be nice, but I'm afraid that after seeing Rondo's contract, he's going to want similar ... ugh!
