The only reason I am surprised is because I thought the owner had stepped forward recently and said he was going to stay the season. I don't follow the nets closely, were people calling for his head? Or were people generally apathetic?

Yeah ... I think he was dealt a very rough hand ... and not given the best tools to work with ... really don't like this decision, but you could kind of see it coming.

Frank is a good coach.  He'll get a better job soon.

It is pretty pathetic though when management decides to rebuild and the coach gets the axe. Then again, we had many fans calling for Doc's head when we were in rebuilding mode.

Yeah the difference is DA and the owners were behind Doc.   That really wasn't happening in NJ.    Frank is being the scapegoat here.   The talent on that team now is not his fault.

I still am. Although he has gotten better over the years. No "small ball" so far, this season.

Not the biggest fan of Coach Frank's ... excellent details man (in-game coaching) but I always thought his teams were lacking in the larger sense (identity wise, style of play).

The Nets are off to a horrific start but whenever I've tuned into one of their games I see a lot of effort + solid team play. Not the things you see when a team has tuned out their coach. If the Nets had of just showed some real patience (one month into the season for crying out loud) they would have come out on the other side. I think the squad would have been stronger for it too.

There is a decent amount of talent in that team. They're capable of winning 25-32 games comfortably. They would have picked it up once they'd gotten healthy + gotten a couple of wins under their belt.

I saw this coming and I think it is very unfair to blame him for the Nets poor start when they traded away one of their stars in the off-season. And to add to that most of their starters were injured the season started. The few times I've seen the Nets this season they played hard despite missing so many players which I thought was a positive reflection on his coaching.

...it doesn't help that right now they are being torched by the Lakers. Hopefully their losing streak ends before we meet them again, it's starting to become hard to watch o.0

I never thought firing a coach after the season starts was a good idea,also what didn't they know prior to the season starting about Frank than they know now?He is the same coach they thought was good enough to start the season when all the players were healthy,but after they lost a few players to injuries,all the blame for losing goes on the coach.I don't see how firing someone on a road trip is helping there cause.What was the rush in firing him,especially having to play the Lakers tonight.It shows little class on the owners behalf.I don't know if he was a good or bad coach,but the way it was done is a poor way of handling things.

He'd have gotten fired eventually anyway; once that Prokhorov guy takes over he's gonna hire some guys from overseas to run the organization / coach the team.
