I apologize ahead of time if this was already posted, but the ex-Celtic is really falling on even harder times.  I hope he can turn things around:

Sounds like another case of Toine rubber stamping his name on an investment and not keeping tabs on it.  Getting harder to have sympathy for the guy.

Quote
CHICAGO (AP)—Former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker(notes) is apologizing for “unacceptable” living conditions at Chicago buildings owned by his companies.

Walker told the Chicago Tribune he wants to “humbly apologize” to everyone who’s been affected by the failings of his companies, Walker Ventures LLC and AW Realty LLC.

One building has been described as a slum nuisance by the city. A broken sewer pipe filled the basement with feces and debris, and bricks tumbled from the building’s facade.

Over a dozen lawsuits have been filed against Walker’s companies over poor management and unpaid debts.

Walker is also facing criminal charges over gambling debts to three Las Vegas casinos.

Walker played for Boston, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami and Minnesota during his 12-year career.

Why do you say that?   Toine thought he had hired the "right people" to take care of his businesses but apparently he was taken advantage of.   If those "people" did their jobs, there wouldn't be an issue right now.   Only thing that I do agree with(and even Walker said it) was that he should've focused on doing this business venture of his POST-RETIREMENT and not when he still wanted to play so he would be more focused on this.

By the way, isn't it "interesting" that this comes up right after the Casino-gambling business Toine is dealing with?   Coincidence?

What's the implication?  There were pending court cases, with one of them resulting in a $950k verdict last month.  I don't think these current allegations have anything to do with the gambling issues, other than that Antoine has made some monumentally bad decisions.

You have stuck by Antoine and promoted his legacy and playing ability and a need for him to come back here to the hilt. I commend you for that as you are obviously a dedicated fan or, who knows, maybe even a friend of his.

Bu this is a different matter. When you are the "boss" and it is your money being used to run a venture or when you are in charge of people who are then in charge of other people or responsibilities, it is up to you to manage and direct them properly and make sure things mare getting done properly.

Please don't minimize Antoine's responsibility in this by saying that he hired other people to do a job and they didn't, I beg you. Please. This is Antoine's fault for not staying on top of things and being the intelligent, mature, responsible businessman that he needed to be. Instead, he became a high stakes, gambling, bad check passing fool that shirked his duties to his wife, his kids, his family and now to the people who called him their landlord.

That's inexcusable. That child could have died from having to breathe with all that mold in that house. Others could have died if bricks fell on top of them or if the sewage problem caused bacteria growth enough to spread disease.

Please, P Squared, revisit your opinion on this one. Defend Antoine's player legacy, perhaps that is a worthy thing to defend. But in this aspect, Antoine deserves no defense. One should never allow things like this to happen if you are the person at the top.

It's not very surprising when you think of him as a player.  I'm always leery of players that don't subjugate for the betterment of the team.  Normally that is their attitude both on and off the court.  And while they provide a spark here or there eventually they infest and cause turmoil.

Oh Toine. I hope he learns something from all this when he resolves all his problems. If he can manage to sort himself out. Seems like he's sinking lower every time his name comes up in the news.

I've been P@WNED by nick the quick.  Well done.  TP for you.

By the way, you agree that he should've waited until AFTER he retired before starting these off-the-court businesses?
