As most of you know, TNT is honoring this decade in NBA Basketball by having fans vote on the best plays/players/coaches/teams of the decade. I thought it would be fun to see what you guys will most remember about this decade...

Categories are...

BEST PLAYER: KOBE BRYANT. Trust me, i hate to say it but the guy is just sick. Averaging nearly 28ppg and scored 81 points in a single game!!! also won 4 titles this decade with the same team and was the finals MVP in 2009 and the 2007-2008 MVP. All this couldnt happen to a nicer guy  ::)

BEST COACH: GREGG POPOVICH. No Brainer. 3 titles this decade. led the spurs to the best record in the league 3 times and was the 2003 coach of the year. Not too shabby for a former D3 coach

BEST PLAYOFF PERFORMANCE: LEBRON VS. THE PISTONS IN GAME 5 OF THE 2007 ECF. 48 points. Scored the last 25 points for the Cavs in the double OT win. Single handedly won the Eastern conference.

BEST PLAYOFF GAME: EASTERN CONFERENCE QUARTER FINALS: BULLS VS. CELTICS. 3 Overtimes, 51 points for Ray Ray and just big shot after big shot. The celtics, without KG and on little rest refused to surrender to the young bulls. Although, the Bulls won the game, the celtics won the 7 game series.

BEST PLAY:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU_4mCNE0z0

WORST TRADE: MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES. Randy Foye for Brandon Roy.

BEST TRADE: BOSTON CELTICS. Big Al, Gomes, Green, Telfair, Ratliff, and a draft pick for Kevin Garnett. A little credit owed to Kevin McHale  ;)

WORST DRAFT PICK: 1st overall pick of the 2001 draft: KWAME BROWN. The downside of drafting a Highschool player

BEST DRAFT PICK: 1st overall in the 2003 draft: LEBRON JAMES. The upside of drafting a highschool player.

VILLAIN OF THE DECADE: TIM DONAGHEY.

BEST MOMENT OF THE DECADE: KG TO BILL RUSSELL- "I GOT MY OWN"

and........

BEST TEAM OF THE DECADE: 2007-2008 BOSTON CELTICS!!!!  ;D  ;D  ;D

  • And the Truth shall set you free
I would say that the best game of the decade is the Celtics comback in the 2002 ECF or the comeback in Game 4 of the Finals in 2008

The best trade has to be Gasol to the Lakers for a pu pu platter.

Team of the Decade, def the Lakers from 2000-2003

Player of the Decade -- Tim Duncan
Coach of the Decade -- Phil Jackson
Team of the Decade -- The 67-15 Lakers title team. The first one.
Best Individual Playoff Performance -- NBA Finals + Shaq + Lakers. Pick one. Next best performance was Tim Duncan in the 2003 Playoffs.

  • Let's Go Celtics
For best playoff game of the decade I would go with the comeback vs. the Nets or the comeback vs. the Lakers over the game vs. the Bulls.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

best playoff game was the 2002 game against the Nets.  2nd place to the comeback against the lakers in 2008.

why:
2002 team didn't have anywhere near the same talent as the 2008 team.
2002 team was in a bigger hole,
No one had done it before the 2002 team.  if 2002 hadn't happened, 2008 probably wouldn't have either.
