I guess they didn't learn their lesson from last time. I know he isn't quite what he used to be, but now what do we do, hope for Lowrie to come back strong? Hmmmm...

Well, below is a list of free agent shortstops (from mlbtraderumors.com):
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/12/2010-mlb-free-a.html:

Shortstops
Eric Bruntlett (32)
Orlando Cabrera (35) - Type A, can't be offered arbitration
Alex Cora (34)
Craig Counsell (39)
Bobby Crosby (30)
Adam Everett (33)
Chris Gomez (39)
Nick Green (31)
Khalil Greene (30)
Jerry Hairston Jr. (34)
Luis Rodriguez (30)
Marco Scutaro (34) - Type A
Miguel Tejada (36) - Type A

I can't say I am particularly excited about the quality of those players (or the ages, which you can see in parentheses). There is always the Cabrera option again.

On that list... I don't think there is anybody I would rather have. I would however rather see them give up young talent for a guy like Hanley Ramirez than Roy Halladay.

Why would Florida give up Ramirez?

Because it's Florida... I'm sure if we offered enough we could get him. A lot of people would be mad because we would lose a lot in the farm system, but I think it would be worth it to actually have that position covered for once.

Bring back Alex Cora, or sign Craig Counsel and I would be satisfied.

Though I do like Scutaro, I did not realize he was a type A free agent, not sure if I would want to lose draft picks for him.
do it
