Does any one know what this guy is up to? Europe? Out of the league?

I was looking at the free agents list on hoopshype and he was the #1 shooting guard available, so you can probably guess what my thoughts were....get this guy in green! I've liked his game since he was a tar heel. He plays solid defense (can guard 1's, 2's and 3's), he's a great slasher (can get to the basket any time he wants), and he's not a horrible shooter. His game reminds me alot of Dahntay Jones. I have no idea why no team signed this guy this offseason..possible character issues?

The celts need a spark right now and i think this guy can provide it. He's only 26, and is eager to prove to all the teams that passed on him this offseason that he can play. If he's not in the euroleague i would love for Danny to make a run at him.

Thoughts?

My thought might be "looks like we can rule out signing a FA shooting guard" or possibly "is Allen Ray available?".

He must really be immature not to get a look right now.

I mean the NBA loves to give extra chances to guys that are pains in the rump if they have talent.

I'd take him over Allens Iverson and Ray, but as wdleehi says- he must be super immature not to be employed.  He's talented offensively but my guess is that he would come to the C's and attempt to average 16 pts off the bench, as opposed to the 8 pts that he should be getting.

Yes, he's not the easiest guy to coach and play with.

On the top of that, he's a one-dimentional player, an inefficient scorer off jump-shots, a shot-hog, very selfish, a ball-stopper, extremely turnover prone (for a guy that rarely passes or attacks the rim, his number of turnovers is mind-boggling), a very inconsistent defender, being mediocre and uninterested most of the times, doesn't rebound, bellow par ball-handling and court-vision and even as a shooter he's streaky.

I like McCants. I'd be happy with the Celtics signing him.

He's in a similar situation to a guy like Von Wafer and needs to walk into a similar situation that Von Wafer got last season -- a defensive orientated veteran team that puts the team before themselves.

Good things could happen with McCants if he gets that break. Although, since the minutes will be limited (Marquis ahead of him),  it will likely be McCants + the next team(s) that get the real benefit here. Still, he'd could be a good secondary wing off the bench for the C's this season. I'd like to take a chance on him.
