It’s Monday. The sun is out I’m in a good mood to start the week.  After reading Curry plans to apologize to his teammates but not his victim, I decided to throw some love poor Rondo’s way. The regular kind not the tough kind he’s needed lately.

He’s usually fun to watch

He’s young.

He looks young. Something I appreciate in this league where most players look at least 10 years older than they’re supposed to be. Can someone find and publish a copy of Oden’s birth certificate? Or a time stamped delivery video?

He has great chemistry with each of the starters

He’s an exciting playmaker

He’s the best alley oop thrower by a mile on the team. Ray is pretty good. Eddie and Perk are OK for one every now and then. I hate to pick on Pierce but he’s terrible. I can’t think of any that he’s connected on but I can remember a number of failed ones notably the one that was too high for Rondo to dunk a game winner, one that was almost momentum killing against the Mavs and the fateful one in that Utah game.

He’s an impressive dunker

He’s not bad for a 21st pick

He can’t shoot but if he could he wouldn’t have dropped to us in the draft and Telfair could be our starting PG now or maybe he’d be back-up to his cousin Marbs who knows?

He’s still on his rookie contract

He’s my favorite PG

He’s our only PG

He loves working with children

He has an edgy fashion sense

He always has his game face on

LOL. TP for trying. And shouldn't being stubborn be a bad trait in a coach? I'd think so.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Wow that play against Williams was really a disgrace.

He is my favorite C though.

Which pretty much sums up how most players in the NBA play, even the good ones. Unfortunately Rondo is the current whipping boy of Celtic fans.  Of course these same fans were bashing Pierce years ago also so you really can't take much from it.

Amen!  PP trade talks have been forgotten by most here.  So far this season its been pierce then rondo for most consistant.  Tony Allen must be happy now that the "heat" of celtics blog is off him and glaring at Rondo.  I believe our bad streak has less to do with rondos defense than ray, eddie and 'sheed shooting poorly and OUR REBOUNDING.  Granted we have 3 guys who are taking rebounds from each other, sheed, perk & kg but this to me is a glaring weak spot.
let me count the ways i love rondo:
controls the game great for a young guy
can change the game like very few guys when he's playing at his high level
one of if not best rebounding pg in league (kidd)
and imo seems to have the respect of the vets which is very important
I think the ft shooting is mental now but HE MUST IMPROVE ON THIS.  We need him in games at the end but a close game he is a weak link.

I'm glad to see a positive Rondo thread. Counting the reasons why I love Rondo, off the top of my head...

He can be everywhere at once.

It inspires me that the smallest guy on the court is the one who can change the game.

When he picks up defense full court, it's beautiful to watch.

He doesn't really waste time arguing with refs.

He's best friends with Perk. I don't know why, but I just think it must be fascinating to be friends with Perk.

He makes the most out of his advantageous situation of playing with the big three.

He's so guarded toward the media that you can't help but wonder what he's bouncing around in his head.

He can make really spectacular passes from one end of the court to the other.

When he's at his best, he's absolutely fearless.

He has a unique name.

He can outhustle any player for a loose ball.

Tommy Heinsohn was once asked to name a player he wished he had the chance to coach, and he said Rondo.

Well said. Thanks. I know Rondo hasn't been playing that well lately but I just wanted to focus on the positive for a bit.
And welcome to the board if you're a new poster :-) TP

Sorry, I don't share the same love in Rondo. Until he proves he can be the "top point guard" in the NBA that everyone proclaims him, I am not sold.

He turns the ball over way too much, is a reckless passer and a horrible shooter. And just because he's young doesn't make him a good player. I am young but don't see myself putting on a Celtics jersey and dribbling the ball at the Garden tomorrow night.

I will admitt, he does put the numbers up. There's no doubt about it and he is talented.  No doubting that, but he needs to be more consistent

Turns the ball over way too much? GAHHHH, LOOK AT THE STATS BUD. He has the fifth best assist to turnover ratio in the league! And out of the top five, he has by FAR the most assists (he has 124 assists, the next guy has 90). From the immortal movie that is Monster's Inc., IF YOU'RE GONNA INSULT SOMEONE, DO IT RIGHT!!

no it doesn't name the good players as inconsistent as rondo then limit that to double figure earners... for that type of money he needs to do a lot more than play 1 good quarter every 4 or 5 games

Rondo has tremendous physical attributes.

I think there are some athletes with great god given talents, work extra hard to hone those talents and develop appropriate skills to match.

There are other athletes who get lazy because they have these tremendous god given physical blessings.

I don't want Rondo to fall into the latter group.
