New member, longtime reader and no im not one of those crazy kids who will say lets trade KG for Chris Bosh or lets play Rasheed at the 3. I'm a TRUE basketball head and i know what im talking about.

Rajon has looked extremely timid in attacking the basket this year, he has almost reverted back to his 07/08 self when he would get to the basket just to kick it out to ray allen for a 3. while this is nice sometimes, other teams will play the pass and not the basket.

Rajon is quicker then most gaurds in the league, in fact the only one who can probably stay with him is Tony Parker. I was [dang] near pulling my hair out when he would get by a over the hill Mike Bibby and kick it out to the corner for a 3. It's just not a high percentage shot, if Rondo can get to the rack and finish which we have all seen him do the Hawks would have had to rotate and it would have put MORE pressure on their defense.

I'm NOT blaming Rajon for the loss, I'm just saying on a nightly basis he IS the KEY for success. He CAN get by a majority of 1s in this league and score, but why is he looking like Rajon of 07/08...now yes he's a much better player then he was in ALL other aspects buts offensively he's looked almost identical to his old self. Rajon needs to be more agressive and score the ball when he has the distinct advantage at the point, which will be most nights. The kid is TOO unselfish and needs to start looking for his own shot especially when everyone else is struggling just like last nights Atlanta game.

Thanks for the post.  Hope to see more.  And yup, Rondo does need to take it in there more.  He finishes at a high percentage when he does.
Yup

I agree. Maybe he is intiminated by the Big Three? I doubt it but it is possible. I am still waiting for him to completely take over a game.

Anyone think Rondo's new contract have changed the expectations for him?  Certainly seems it to me.

He can attack the basket more if he gained a consistent jumper. It's kind of easier for him to blow by a defender when they don't sag 5 feet away from him.

Or we can set some picks for him, which to my frustration, we currently don't really do.

Absolutely it has, and I think it should.  However, I also think his game has been below-par in several areas, including shooting, scoring, and defense.

I agree that Rondo needs to attack the basket.  He needs to try to score and challenge the defense, for the purpose of getting points rather than solely to set up his teammates.

Rondo hasn't been terrible, and there are several areas he's been good in, too.  However, based upon what we saw in last year's Chicago series, Rondo can do better.
