I think this is a very realistic trade for both parties.

Knicks lack defense and experience, they know Duhon is not the long term starter past this season. Plus the expiring contracts fit in with the whole 2010 FA philosophy

I think they do this trade in a heart beat so they give Nate and Tony Douglas increased playing time in the back court.

Why for us? Duhon is a back up PG its a role he excelled in Chicago and backup PG is the only role we don't have right now.

I think this is a realistic and fair trade

The Knicks wouldn't touch it.

TA has zero trade value right now.  Not one team is going to touch him.  Until he is playing minutes here and showing that he has some skill and some value, he's just not going to be traded.  There is the slight chance he's used as an expiring contract later on, but even so, we won't get very much for him.
do it

I'd rather have Daniels playing PF (Point Forward). Duhon's not even taller than Hudson. Also, can he even defend?

come on... there isn't a single team in the NBA that would trade an expiring contract of any kind for Scal and Tony.

Well, that depends on how strapped a team is and how much money they could save in the transaction. Even though teams need to come close in figures to complete a trade, there is still a scenario where a team could save over a million dealing their expiring for TA and Scal. I believe figures need to line up within 15-20% of each other.

It makes all of the sense in the world for them to trade Duhon to give Kryptonate and Douglas (Who looked great last night, btw. 23pts) more time in the backcourt but it doesn't make sense to trade him for dead weight, even if they are only renting the dead weight until the end of the season. It's not like the Knicks are already in tank mode.

That's good value for Tony and Scal, but I'm happy with our players now. So if we're trading guys who aren't contributing I would like us to get a future first, or a good young player rather than a guy who will just sit on our bench.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Not true.  His expiring contract has value -- more value than people realize.  Teams that are strapped for cash are willing to trade long term contracts for short/ expiring contracts.

(that doesn't help in this case, since Duhon is also expiring).
Celtics fan for life.

Chris Duhon is an expiring contract. There is no value for the Knicks in dumping him for players who also have expiring contracts.

It would need to be a trade for talent. A superior talent in current ability or a cheap contract with long term potential (like a future draft pick). That's the only way the Knicks give up Duhon.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
I'd do it in a heartbeat, but the Knicks laugh at this.

OK, i just don't see that trade. Teams desperate for $1mil would be NOH (no one expiring), MIL (no one useless / expiring), NJ (no one useless / expiring) and MEM (no one expiring – Iverson is NOT included). The only deal I can see that makes sense in this vein is with SAC. It’s Scal, TA and Giddens for Kenny Thomas. It saves the Kings a little under 2 mil.

Wait, I found it! I found a trade that includes our end of the bench junk for an expiring contract! Kenny Thomas baby!!

I think the knicks do it to free up time for Douglas, maybe we throw in a second rounder to make sure this gets done.

Duhon offers way more than Cassel or Marbury would have offered

TP this is the most logical reason why this does not happen.

Now want to give the Knicks expiring contracts for Jeffries or Curry, now they will talk to you, though you may not want to talk to them.
